Andrews and Abiamiri cleared to practice
Having been missing since week 2, Shawn Andrews has finally been medically cleared to practice, although don't expect to see him this weekend.
Injured players Shawn Andrews and Victor Abiamiri were medically cleared to practice Wednesday.
Andrews, a two-time Pro Bowl guard, has been cleared by his doctors and will practice Wednesday for the first time since sustaining a back injury in Week 2 at Dallas. But, as head coach Andy Reid noted, Andrews will not be active for Sunday's divisional playoff game against the Giants.
"We're not going to force anything there or do anything ridiculous," Reid said. "We'll gradually work him in and see how he feels. We'll see what he can do day-to-day."
Abiamiri missed the lat two games with a Lisfranc sprain and had really started to come on in the second half of the year.

Heckert to interview with Browns
Last week we reported that Tom Heckert was emerging as a possible candidate for a few jobs around the NFL, but his interest in some(cough Detroit) was very low. However it seems that he thinks Cleveland is more attractive than Detroit....
CLEVELAND -- Their coaching search on hold and seemingly locked on Eric Mangini, the Cleveland Browns plan to interview Philadelphia Eagles general manager Tom Heckert for their GM opening.
The meeting between Browns owner Randy Lerner and Heckert, who has been with the Eagles since 2001, has not yet been scheduled. The Eagles are getting ready for Sunday's playoff game against the New York Giants, but it is not known if Lerner will sit down with Heckert before or after the game.
Heckert has been the Eagles' GM since 2006 after originally joining the team as the director of player personnel. In May, he received a contract extension through 2011. Last year, he interviewed for Atlanta's GM job, a position that went to Thomas Dimitroff.
The Browns have also interviewed Scott Pioli from New England and wil speak with George Kokinis from Baltimore, who reportedly could be the frontrunner.
Since Heckert does not have final say in personell matters, he is allowed to interview for other GM jobs that would give him greater power.

Eagles/Giants Blogsummit - Day two
It's time for round two of the Blogsummit between BGN and the Giants' site Big Blue View. This round Ed starts things off and we discuss whether this year's Eagles are last year's Giants and what is the only thing that can stop Brian Westbrook. Hint, it's not Antonio Pierce.
Be sure to check out Big Blue View to see what Giants fans are saying...

Will the Eagles' offense target Antonio Pierce?
Pierce doesn't seem think he was at fault for Westbrook running roughshod over them in week 14

Eagles/Giants Blogsummit - Day one
On Sunday the Eagles travel up the NJ turnpike to face their NFC East rival NY Giants in the divisional round of the NFL playoffs. Since this is no ordinary matchup, Ed over the Giants blog Big Blue View and I decided to do a little something special. Instead of the normal "5 questions" we normally do, Ed and I will be posting a conversation on a different topic each day this week.
One guy launches the opening salvo and we go back forth. Where it leads? Who knows...
Let your reactions to Ed's thoughts be known in the comments, and be sure to check out what Giants' fans feel about my claims over at Big Blue View.
Today, I led off with some thoughts on drawing and NFC East opponent in the playoffs after the jump..

Shawn Andrews could return to practice this week?

At his Monday press conference Andy Reid updated the status of Shawn Andrews, who has been missing from the lineup since week 2 but was never put on injured reserve. Andrews flew out to California yesterday to meet with his back specialist and if he gets the all clear, he could be back on the practice field this week.
Reid would not offer any specifics, but did say there was a chance Andrews could return to practice as soon as this week.
"We'll see what the doctor says," Reid said. "If he OK's it, then we would allow him to get back out and start practicing. He's been doing a lot of cardio work, so that part of being in shape won't be a problem. The actual football shape, we'd have to let him kind of start off slow and get back in the swing of it."
I guess this begs the question, what do you do if Andrews is indeed healthy enough to play? Combine the fact that Nick Cole has been playing very well with the fact that Andrews had very little preseason and very few games this year... It's hard to say that Andrews would be likely to do a better job than Cole right now.
I would be glad to hear that Andrew's back issue is behind him and that he'll be 100% heading into next year. We can't forget that when he's 100% Shawn Andrews is a perennial pro bowl and one of the best offensive lineman in the game... but for the rest of this issue I'd prefer to see Nick Cole out there.
