Chris Mortensen on the NFL GM & Head Coach Vancancies
Nice little clip to watch from this afternoon. Mortensen mentions that he did a bit of digging and found the rumor that Pioli was making extreme demands to be false.
Can we please hire a GM? I'm dying over here.

Sam Bradford. Graham Harrell. Colt McCoy. Zac Robinson. Chase Daniel. The Big 12 put up ridiculous numbers all season long and those five QB's finished in the top 10 Nationally in passer rating. I've long been skeptical of the Big 12's passing prowess, however, and I decided to finally investigate what was behind this gut feeling.

Dorsey was expected to be a play-making force for Kansas City this season, but the No. 5 overall pick barely registered on the impact radar screen. His season totals of one sack, one forced fumble, and one pass defensed used to be a good quarter for him at LSU. What happened to all that explosiveness that we saw from him as a Tiger?

Hmmm. The same day we grade Dorsey a "B" in his rookie year he ends up on Don Banks' All-Disappointment Team. Gotta disagree with Banks on this one.

Is No News Good News for the Chiefs' GM Search?
Reports have said that Clark Hunt and New England Patriots VP of Personnel Scott Pioli met sometime on Monday to discuss the Kansas City Chiefs' general manager position.
It's now Wednesday and we have...nothing new to report.
Is this lack of news right after the meeting an indicator that things didn't go well? Or are the two sides hammering out the details of a deal as we speak that would bring Scott Pioli to the Chiefs?
I'm guessing the latter. The Browns have all but moved forward with their decision to hire Eric Mangini as their next head coach. Ravens Director of Pro Personnel George Kokinis will likely follow Mangini to Cleveland as the GM.
Scott Pioli's best opportunity and apparently his only formal one right now is in Kansas City.
Chiefs' fans patiently await their new general manager.

The computer generated yellow line that indicates the first down has changed the way we watch football forever. But its implementation is a multi-stepped process involving dozens of technologies working in precise tandem.

VIDEO: Carl Peterson's Parting Shot
The Star's Adam Teicher says he wasn't surprised that Carl Peterson, at his farewell news conference, took a swipe at the news media. He says Peterson thought the media "should have put on our skirts and been a cheerleader for the Chiefs."

Grading the 2008 Chiefs' Rookies

The post-mortem on an ugly body continues with my grades for various Chiefs' rookies. This grade is tempered with preseason expectations and other circumstances that may have affected a player's production this year beyond what the box score indicates.
This grading is far from any exact science, or even a serious intellectual exercise. Still, there is nothing simpler and more direct than slapping a big fat "F" next to a player who has continued to disappoint you all year long (Which I didn't do this year).
Grades are after the jump. Make sure to leave your own in the comments.
