Pro Bowl DE Simeon Rice Released/Cut/Let Go by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers!!!
...UPDATE...
Simeon Rice failed his physical today. Geez, take a page out of the Patriots book and put him on the PUP (Physically Unable to Perform) list. Instead you OUTRIGHT release the guy. ***shakes head in disgust***
GM Bruce Allen had the following to say in light of the Simeon Rice releasing:
"I don't think the last chapter in Simeon Rice's career has been written," Allen said. That's right Bruce, it hasn't! My goodness, this is like a bad dream .... Lynch and Sapp were let go do to injury concerns, they have done quite well having left the Bucs. I'm exasperated really, granted Simeon Rice failed his physical (as did Lynch) and he's coming off a horrid injury riddled season, BUT its his contract year . . . and and and whatever
In one of the more shocking events to take place this off-season, on the EVE of Training Camp the Tampa Bay Bucs, specifically GM Bruce Allen, has decided to cut/release/let go (however you wanna shake it) Pro Bowl DE Simeon Rice. The reason given thus far is due to health issues. Apparently the Bucs asked Simeon to take a pay cut, which he refused and he got immediately released. Talk about a knee jerk reaction ..... Wow! Didn't see this one coming at all.
Hat Tip to RJ for the Link!

surprising but not
While Monte has been prepping the defense to step it up this season, I wonder if this move is foreshadowing of one variety or another? The window shutting firmly on contention, mayhap?

lol
It's the guys contract year, you've already alotted money to him, might as well get one more season out of him.
As a Buc Fan, you just know he's gonna prosper some where else. I don't understand the logic in this decision, unless Allen didnt save enough money for the Rookie signings, which is just ignorant by every stretch of the imagination.

Or Gruden demands Allen sign Culpepper?
Rice being cut over money so they can sign an offensive tool would follow past (foolish, idiotic, senseless) moves where the Bucs cut elder defense in order to bring in ancient offense (John Lynch out, Charlie Garner in)

with seven QB's in camp/on the roster...
"Oh I love Garcia and... OOH! 'PEP GOT RELEASED! Brucie baby?! Can you get Daunte's agent on the line and Jeff George's for good measure?!"
"Jeff George, Jon?"
"Former Raider, baby!"
"Good deal! Good deal! Eight may not be enough anyway!"
