Sports Network | August 25, 2008

Englewood, CO (Sports Network) - The Denver Broncos released wide receiver Samie Parker on Monday.

Parker joined the club as an unrestricted free agent on April 15 after spending the first four seasons of his career playing for division-rival Kansas City, where he tallied 110 receptions for 1,529 yards and seven touchdowns. The 27- year-old had 24 grabs for 298 yards and two scores last season.

The Oregon product was a fourth-round selection by the Chiefs in the 2004 draft.

Head coach Mike Shanahan also announced Monday that the team waived defensive tackle Josh Mallard and wide receiver Lorne Sam.

Last season with Denver, Mallard notched 20 tackles and 3 1/2 sacks in eight games. Over four seasons in the league, which included stints with Indianapolis and Atlanta, he has appeared in 38 games and has 38 tackles and 8 1/2 sacks.
