Luke McCown?
So my Jags have apparently traded an undisclosed pick (6th or 7th) for McCown. All I can say is that I'm baffled considering what has become available over the waiver wire, but that being said, how did he do for you guys. I assume he must've done something right for you guys to keep him along with 3 other QBs?
So I guess what I'm asking is, how violated should I feel that the Bucs managed to fleece the Jaguars to trading for him?

shouldn't be
He’ll be starting over Garrard pretty soon.. half joke but could be quite serious.

Garrard is a real good QB to get ahead of yourself : )

Garrard isn't a real good QB
I respect Garrard but I wouldn’t put him on a list of good qb’s. I would say he is decent and doesn’t make the mistakes to put the team in bad spots. But he isn’t going to win you a game by himself.

I don't know, easily top 15 though
Obviously not top tier, but real solid

He was fairly acurat when he had time
mobile, quick release. Took a lot of sacks in preseason, but didn’t get good protection at all. He’s a good backup and should be a good fit in your system (especially if your line is better than it was last year).

If the Jags gave up a 6th or 7th then it's a roughly equal trade
McCown had little to no value with our team anymore. He wasn’t going to start and didn’t have any long term hope here. He is a back up with some experience but likely won’t threaten Garrard. He can start in a pinch and not doom the team to immediate defeat. He’s still a tad of a project though.
7th round pick and it’s all square. If it gets up to a 5th rounder it either means A) you gave up too much or B) you had to use McCown alot which also wouldnt be good news for you

I agree
McCown is solid. He is a good backup, good athleticism, Solid arm and will take alot of sacks judging by the Jags offensive line. He is more of a west coast offense QB who can make all of the short throws. Not really sure if he can air it out but he will def not lose any games for the jags if he gets in. He is a step up from beckman and broeckman. It is a win / win situation for both teams.
I am excited because I was never a McCown fan and I want to see freeman get alot more reps.
