WhatdaBuc This year Buc's reminds me of 07 Falcons
New head coach new GM and plenty of offseason drama. I for one was in favor if the dismissal of Gruden but was a little skeptical of promoting then defensive coordinator Raheem Morris, because of the way the defense played down the stretch last year when he took control after Monte Kiffin announced he was leaving to help is son at the university of Tennessee. After listening to the charismatic Morris in a few press conference I thought maybe this guy might be the shot in the arm the organization needs. Then came some questionable personnel moves, the release of Brooks, trading two draft picks for a talented tight end with questionable character and work ethic in Kellen Winslow. Is he really a second and fifth round pick better then Alex Smith, not to mention giving him a boat load of cash, yet the team has yet to give an extension to Barret Ruud. Oh and how did they address the release of probably one of the franchises all time best player, by signing injury prone Crowell. During free agency we missed out on Haynesworth and Vilma and has yet to address the depth issues on defense or offense. I shutter to think what may happen if Antonio Bryant , Barret Ruud or Quincy Black goes down for the season. Can you imagine a starting recieving corp of Michael Clayton and the rookie Stroughter, yikes!!! Then came the resigning of Luke Mcnown and the signing of Byron Leftwich and the "quarterback competition" which wasn't much of a competition at all because it seemed Morris had his mind made up from OTA's but decided to patronize Mcnown nonetheless. We all knew however the winner was to be a temporary fix til Freeman, Raheem's wonder boy is ready to take over the helm. Speaking of Freeman, did we really have to trade up for him, especially when we had limitied draft choices due to a previous unnecessary trade, I see the potential but isn't next years quarterback class alot better, couldn't we address other glaring needs especially when we just sign two qbs already. Training camp arrives and before the 2nd preseason game our starter safety is suspended for four games, and our starter corner starts an altercation with a taxi driver, neither qb Leftwitch Mcnown or Freeman gave us the impression of someone ready to lead the offense. A deadline was set to name a starting qb a deadline was broken which makes me wonder how prepared can Leftwich be when thru most of training camp and the preseason he was splitting reps with Mcnown and Freeman. Finally a day before our last preseason game the offensive coordinator is fired, but Raheem says we have a plan and we're sticking to it, yeah it seems to be a plan to have no plan at all.
2007 the Falcons come into the season with an unproven NFL coach in Petrino, followed by the Vick dog fiasco the team unravelled and Petrino after promising Arthur Blank he would stay the course, Petrino abrubtly resign to take a job at Arkansas. They go 2-14 or 3-13. Offseason trouble questionble coach hiring, and players with off field troubles sounds like the Buc's are falling the Falcons formula for rebuilding. Hopefully next year Freeman can be the next Matt Ryan but this year looks like double digit losses for sure

Lets just hope we get the same result....
drafting a 1st round quarterback that is worthy of starting…..Sam Bradford and he has a rookie of the year performance like Ryan in Atlanta.
I do want to keep Morris as the head coach though…..the better players he gets the better job he will do.

As awesome as it would be to share that HOPE as well......
Josh Freeman being drafted this year in the 1st round pretty much rules the Bucs out of drafting another 1st round QB for quite some time. Whether he pans out and become a quality QB or turns out to be a bust, we are stuck with that decision and are comitted to him for the next FEW years. After seeing Freeman play, their is NO DOUBT, he won’t have the same wonderful beginning to his career that Matt Ryan did.
It’s Likely, the most you can hope for is that somehow a Quality Veteran QB becomes available next year and they sign/start him. Unlikely to happen but a possibility!

looks like someone beat me to the '07 Falcons reference
and I can’t really bash Freeman. He has a rocket for an arm and is smart to when it is safe to take off down the field. He’s a big guy that can break tackles. I can see him developing in to a Big Ben style QB with a meaner arm. I don’t think he looked too terrible against the Texans, but with his media etiquette, he still seems very young and has some bigger shoes to grow into before he begins to lead a team.
Also, in all fairness, Matt Ryan didn’t look like gold in his first preseason either.
know what you believe in and why you believe in it

I know everyone is saying the bucs will be terrible this season BUT?
WHY? i know all the drama with the management. but last season we were above .500 and at one time were 9-3 and looking good. this season we have a different QB, but i dont see to much drop off. We added a VERYYY underated RB derrick ward, and got caddilac back. so our running game will be very fresh. I understnd why we are not a shoe in to win the South since the other teams are so good. So why is it were predicted by most to be TERRIBLE? Is morris that bad he will single handedly ruin the team?
