Welcome Back Michael Clayton
One of the bright spots for the Buccaneers during Sunday's loss to Dallas was Michael Clayton. His 5 catches for 93 yards was his best receiving day since his rookie season in 2004. Between injuries and being in Jon Gruden's dog house, Clayton has not been a big part in the Bucs offense over the last 4 years.
Many eyebrows were raised when the Bucs decided to re-sign him to a 5 year, $26 million dollar multi-year contract. But Sunday showed why the Bucs chose to do so. Clayton had a spectacular 47 yard finger-tip grab right before halftime. He also had 20 yard reception over the middle of the field, where he got hammered and still held onto the ball.
If Clayton can return back to his rookie season form, and stay healthy. That will only add to a very potent offensive attack. Possibly the best offense the Bucs have ever had in the history of the franchise.
Now if they could get the defense to help out some, the Bucs could raise some eyebrows for a different reason.
