I know this it's way to early
To think about who we are going to be drafting, but i keep hearing that we are going to suck ass this year. That the only bright spot on our team is our OLine. That our Defense is suspect, that we have no QB, that we have 3 RBs who need the ball along with WR's who have never put together 2 good years in a row. The Bucs are the 4th best team in the NFC south, we wont make the playoffs and if we get to 9-7 we will be lucky.
I don't agree with this; but there is a bright spot is all of this, is it possible that we can get Brandon Spikes? Think he can step right in take over for D. Brooks. If we are decent think we can trade a few of our late picks + a (QB except Freeman) to jump up to get Spikes? I know i am jumping away a head in the future, but with all the question marks around our football team, just tell me what you think about this!!!

First I am going ot say...
9 and 7 would be a decent year with a new coach, offense, defense. I would like to see the bucs go 9 and 7 or 10 and 6 and make the playoffs. As far as the draft goes. I think that a CB will be taken in the early rounds because Ronde only has 1 or 2 years left in him. Probably 2 , 3 might be a stretch but either way, we need someone to start opposite of Talib. LB will also get addressed and DE. Probably another DT because Hovan is aging.

am i the only one who thinks
we need LBers? Flip wasn’t working out, move him back to Safety (where he was killing it), and why not get get a stud at OLB to play along side Ruud??

Do you know of any available? I have not been looking ....
I am interested in seeing Bo Rudd. Does anyone else want to see him play? I am not a Matt McCoy fan (he blew assignment vs dolphins). I would also be in favor of some LB depth. Not to sold on the backups. I think geno, rudd and black can get it done but Haywood deserves a chance as a backup but not sold on any other LB’s we have.

Here is something to wrap your head around
Lets just say it is a really bad season. Just for kicks and giggles. The Bucs end up in the top five in draft. Next year is going to be a deep draft for quarterbacks. We could have a shot at Mccoy from Texas or Bradford from Oklahoma. Also Sneed from Ole Miss and lets not forget about Tebow. And yes we will not take any of therm . We drafted Freeman in the first round in a year where quarterback position was not deep. Bradford and Mccoy are already being touted as franchise Qb’s.
I hope Freeman can step up because i dont think any linebackers or secondary position are going to be top five prospects. This will lead us to hopefully take a defensive line stud. and hopefully that doesnt turn out like Gaines Adams. Just a little hypothetical play.
And im sorry to break the news to everyone we will not be 9-7. Not by a long shot. If you got money go to vegas and make a prop bet that the Bucs will not make the playoffs. To many unknowns going into season. Starting with the Qb , the chemistry with the wideouts. New coaches New systems. Yes teams did it last year like the ravens and Dolphins , but they are the exception and not the rule. Plus those teams had great leadership all around their respective teams such as Ray Lewis, Chad Pennington, not to mention the Big Tuna that just wins baby. So a high draft pick is possible even likely

Eric Berry, Taylor Mays
will be high picks (assuming no injury). Both are safeties. No guarantees that Bradford comes out, though he is likely to come out. And I dont think you pass on a QB you want (Freeman) for the “hopes” you pick high enough to draft one the next year.
Now we as fans may not have wanted Freeman, but the staff did and got him. He was/is their guy. And who’s to say Bradford and McCoy can get it done in the NFL? Both put up big numbers in the Big 12. Ask Graham Harrell, Todd Reesing, Chase Daniels, and Stephen McGee how that worked out.
Taking QB’s early is nothing more than an educated crap shoot. You do your homework and hope you have the right guy. McCoy and Bradford may be awesome, but let’s assume they go top 5 next year. What if the Bucs had pick 9? We’d be having the same discussion. Is Player X worth it? At some point, you bunker down and just take the guy you think can get it done.
And 2010 doesn’t look to be deeper at QB than past years. You named three QB’s, the same number that went in the top 17 picks this year.

Very Nice...
The bucs Drafted Freeman so he will be our QB for a while. I am able to deal with that but I don’t want to throw him out there until atleast his 2nd year. Hoperfully he doesn’t hit the field until his 3rd year. We are solid at the safety position IMO. We have T Jackson , Will Allen and Sabby. I think that if we are going to draft, we need to get corner to replace rhonde when he eventually retires. I think that Mack is a good Nickle back.
