I don't follow...
the 2-2-1 run scheme Morris talked about. It should be situational with Ward 1st, Graham on 3rd’s, Caddy scat, and peanut returning.

My take so far...
Leftwich looks horribly inconsistent. He’s overthrown practically everyone. That one throw to Winslow sailed about 15 feet over his head. The only person he’s actually thrown good passes to has been Stovall (and speaking of Stovall, I hope he plays like this every week. Great performance so far out of him. He might finally be stepping up). The only ball that looked like the receiver’s fault was the one thrown to Hankton that was, wait for it… HIGH, but still a catchable ball.
Decent running so far, Caddy looked especially good out there. He nearly broke that one long run for a TD, just a good open field tackle, or else that’s 6.
Defense has also looked great. The D-line’s been getting good pressure (with a couple of exceptions) and everyone’s been making great plays against the run. One notable absence: Ruud… where’s he at? I know he’s been on the field, but I haven’t seen him around the ball yet.
Stroughter should play the slot. No question. Any 3 receiver sets, he’d better be in there, and in the slot. He’s been head and shoulders above Clark this week and last. Stovall’s gotta be in the mix, and (assuming this performance continues) should take one of the spots behind Bryant or Clayton.

Ruud has been invisible
And so has gaines. Caddy has been good, consistent. Ward hasn’t done much but if doesn’t look like the ol has helped him much. Want to see more ou of winslow.

Nice job McClown, way to not even put up a fight.
0 for 4 , 3 sacks, an intentional grounding, a missed reciever in stroughter wide open, and 0 yards. Nice job stepping in there and proving who the better QB has been all along. I can’t respect a guy who just lays down and doesn’t put up any fight. Atleast go out like a gun slinger. You can say that the O line didn’t block but they did, if you are a leader, those guys will block for you. Those guys have no respect for McClown.
Leftwich- missed about 3 or 4 easy throws but he moved the offense and showed leadership, he made those lineman block for him. It was rainy out there, no excuse but 9 for 17, 100 yards and 2 field goals and about 3 or 4 big 3rd down conversions. Way to step up stovall and stroughter looked good in the first half too.

BLITZ BLITZ BLITZ
They know he isn’t going deep so they are going to just blitz blitz blitz. They have absolutely NO RESPECT for McClown and neither do I. Anytime a player gets blitz almost ever play they have no respect. Things are just freakin fallin apart. If he would stay in the pocket he could get more protection. he keeps rolling out.

Whether or not you think he should start. You should at least show the guy some respect. He is a professional QB and is competing to be one of the top 32 in the country. He’s put in work and deserves a little credit.

I told every blogger on here that he wasn’t ready but everyone is talkin about his athleticism. His athleticism got him sacked 3 times and an intentional grounding. Not to athletic . You haveto be smart in the NFL , not athletic.
Another year on the bench is true but it won’t be tampa bay bench, especially if JJ comes in and ties the game because dolphins gonna get a field goal.

QB Situation
Here’s my question: what is the difference between Leftwich, Garcia, and Griese? All retreads. I thought we were supposed to be going in a different direction. This is the same decision Gruden would make: promise a QB competition, bring in a lousy retread, give him every advantage, and act like he won.

lets not ignore the fact
the young guy was moving us until the penalty. The penalties have killed us. we gave up 80 yards on penalties. The guy looked good until the false start. The Young guy is going to have time to sit and learn. He should get one more opportunity to prove himself.

He wasnt a second round pick .
He was a first round pick. First round picks should make impact. He is not gonna be a franchise guy. He wasnt even a great college player. And what about this offense is sposed to run run and run. to me we have been pass crazy

Its preaseason
Raheem has 3-4 QBs to evaluate. Caddy, D-Ward, and Earnest all got their work in during the first half, and managed not to get hurt. Someone in charge thinks that Raheem knows what hes doing so let’s just let it ride for awhile
by El Soro on Aug 28, 2009 12:00 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Disappointed
Wow, I thought they were supposed to get an even playing field for the “final exam” of this qb competition. Looked to me like Leftwich was annointed the starter by his boy Raheem. I know that everyone thinks Leftwich won tonight, but McCown did a good job shifting field position when they were backed up at the goal line. I can’t help but think McCown could grown with experience and Leftwich has 40+ games in the NFL showing exactly what he is.
by bucsfandave on Aug 27, 2009 11:53 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
LEVEL PLAYING FIELD
Leftwich started because he has been doing it in OTA’s , training camp, mini camp and the pre-season. He has been clearly the best qb the bucs have had this year so far. Don’t try to bring ya bs excuses. He got in there and stunk. He didn’t even attempt throws the first half. If you know you gonna get sacked. atleast throw the ball in someones direction. He just held on and got sacked. How dumb. The bucs are trying to win now and you just admitted that leftwich gives them the best chance to win now. He has the experience and he flat out outplayed luke. He missed a couple of throws but then again he made a couple of throws too.

Please stop hating on Morris, Leftwich and Freeman
Leftwich got the bucs their only 6 pts, he moved the offense, but he missed a few throws. He will get getter with practice and when clayton and AB get healthy. Morris drafted other guys besides freeman, 3 GUYS stepped up big tonight in Miller, Kyle moore and stroughter.
