NEWS FROM AROUND THE NFC SOUTH

ATLANTA- 8/21-Falcons will be wearing their 1966 throwback uniforms when they host us in week 12. They are black tops and red helmets, which I remember. I was too young to recall the black jerseys, but that explains why they went all black in the 90s now i guess.

8/16-Stafford threw a touchdown, an interception and had some passes dropped in his NFL debut that the Lions rallied to win 27-26 over the Atlanta Falcons on Jason Hanson's 47-yard field goal as time expired.

CAROLINA- After a wild ending Monday Night, the Panthers will travel to MIami for preseason game 2 vs the Dolphins.

8/21-Panthers close up camp with a rookie hazing, the dousing of rookies. While tied up, rookies get soaked. Kind of miss the days at U of Tampa when Rookies had to sing!

NEW ORLEANS- 8/17 The New Orleans Saints opened their 2009 preseason with a 17-7 victory over the visiting Cincinnati Bengals at the Superdome. After a topsy-turvy first quarter that was filled with big plays but resulted in no scoring, the Saints struck early in the second quarter on a 22-yard touchdown pass from Drew Brees to Jeremy Shockey to give the Saints a 7-0 lead. The touchdown marked the first touchdown completion between the two players as Saints, and culminated an 80-yard drive in just five plays.

8/21- Saints will take on Houston Texans Saturday Night for Preseason game number 2.
