Same old bucs....

The offense struggling to convert on 3rd downs...

...and the D was making plays!  Ronde and Aqib looked aggressive.  Piscitelli was all over the feild.  Stylez G with a pick.  Miller and Black were solid.  Even Will Allen was laying people out.  Those boys were fired up!

Is this something we can build on?  Thoughts?

Offense looked okay, considering the first team recieving core was out.  Where was Jags running game?  Didn't bode well for McCown either.  Leftwich looked pretty good, but he'll be dead by game 2.  Makes Dan Marino look like a scrambler.  I still think Luke is our guy, if the O line can give him some time back there to develop and calm down.

I'm grading out the D tomorrow

but they definitely outplayed the offense. Tough to judge after one game, but lots of questions still around.

Thoughts.....

The defense stepped up for just being in their first game and with the changes that have been made. If they are just going to get better from here they could surprise some of those NFC and AFC east teams this season.

Right now I am with you in the fact that McCown is likely the guy. Without Bryant and clayton playing he was asked to do a lot with what we know now was very little (I am hoping that Kelly Campbell can play and be better than the others showed). McCown made good throws hitting receivers on the run and out away from the defender but the receivers just kept dropping them. Stats are misleading and when people put so much stock into them it is an injustice to the players at times. He ran and made positive yards and knew when to throw the ball away. He does need more work though.

O-line needs to hold off defenders much longer to have success but the RB, TE and backup players showed potential.
