College football always has been a popular sport in the state of Florida. And why not; for the last quarter century we have had the best football programs at our major Universities, and with USF and UCF making strides, maybe soon we will be known as the state with 5 major programs!

But this is a Buccaneer fan site, and this is a Buccaneer fan QUIZ! So its time for you Gator, Nole and Cane fans to  step up and show your knowledge (or lack there of) on our Big state schools and the Bucs!

Q: Which of the following schools have given the Tampa Bay Buccaneers the most starters to wear the Pewter and Red.

This is NOT a play on uniforms question, it can be any of the many combinations of pewter pants, white shirts, red shirts, whatever....but NOT Orange only. If a player started for the Bucs ONLY in Orange uniforms, they don't count. Only players that started with a modern era pewter pirates uniform, even if they started for only one game.  You could start for both, so say Mike Alstott, if he were from one of these  schools, would count, because he wore Orange and Pewter.

Which of these schools have the most starters for the Pewter Buccaneers

1) Miami Hurricanes

2) Florida State Seminoles

3) Florida Gators

4) Ohio State Buckeyes (hey, gotta throw that in for Joey G) !

This trivia contest ends FRIDAY morning at 6 am! I will not shut it down even if the correct guess is up. The winner will be the first person to guess the correct answer  with the most complete answer you can, because the tie breaker will be ...

1) correct numbers of each teams players

or

2) names of players (you get 2 points for each correct answer, and -3 points for each incorrect answer! Thats how I will do the tie breaker if I get two close callls)!

GOOD LUCK!

By the way...

By my count, UF has 8, FSU 7, UM 3, and OSU 3.

Determined to find more FSU players

I did some more research….

Jesse Solomon started 12 games in 91 at MLB.
Will Carter started one game at DE in 87.
Mario Edwards started 3 games at DB in 2004.

I’m sure if you do the same sort of research for UF you can find the same ‘unknowns.’ And if you do, you win the DVD. But for now my count stands at 10 for FSU and 8 for UF

UNFNOLE

I knew you would come up with more nole players, however, if you take a good hard look, those players do not qualify.

Just think, last year if we would have gotten Brett Favre, maybe WE would have lost 4 of last 5 games of the season like the Jets.....DOH!!!

Oops....

missed that whole part about “Pewter Uniforms”

Guess I should have read more….

However, Mario Edwards DOES count though. So now they are tied.

Oops....

Should have read it closer. Missed the whole “Pewter Uniforms” part.

However, Mario Edwards DOES count. So now UF and FSU are tied.

Eric Rhett

never started a game in Pewter. His last start was in 96. The uniforms were introduced for the 97 season.

So once again…. FSU and UF are tied

JK

Your numbers were wrong… You had 9 UF players which now puts them at 8. 2 ahead of FSU. DANGIT.

I am obviously retarded. It’s the only possibly explanation for getting the number wrong. I don’t see that I can edit them, so please note admin.

Rhett never started a game in 1997? I guess it was all Dunn and Alstott. I remember Rhett playing quite a bit, but I guess he never got the start. Do I still have a shot at winning? I’ve been needing a copy of that 2000 MNF game!

Terrell Buckley and Geno Hayes

I know they have started on Special Teams in Pewter. Or are we not considering Special Teams?

by PewterPirate55 on Jun 10, 2009 2:55 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

I would guess special teams would count.

Now, if you want to win, I would see if there are any Gators or Hurricanes who have started on special teams for us.

Special teams generally aren’t considered starters. If that was the case, your kicker would always be considered a starter, and I’ve never heard them referred to as such. I think we’re just talking about the starting 22.

No one ever considers Special Teams on here

I can say they are the most under appreciated aspect of the game. They get all of the hidden yardage that makes the defense and offenses job that much easier or harder. If they are not starters why elect kickers and punters and kick returners and punt returners to the pro bowl.

Special teams does not get enough credit but when they screw up really bad they get all of the blame. Especially when a last second field goal is missed or blocked.
