"I think I cannot believe -- and will refuse to believe until I see him stink it up in training camp, which won't happen -- that Byron Leftwich will not beat out Luke McCown for the Tampa Bay quarterback job. Leftwich is just better." - Peter King of Sports Illustrated

Just an Observation...
If Slow Throw does beat out McCown for the Starting position, what does that say about McCown and even more disturbing, what does that say about the Bucs releasing Garcia?
As far as that quote, I personally feel the exact opposite.

ha
i’d rather have Jeff George than more of the same with Garcia. He had two seasons to get it done and didnt. He’s a hell of a competitor, but his lack of strength, inability to stay in the pocket, and lack of ability to make the right reads was enough for me. His output didnt match his cockiness

Oh, I agree!
I just think less of Leftwich and fear that his slow release will end up getting one or more of our receivers hurt by exposing them to more hits because Leftwich’s throwing gives the defenders time to make plays on the ball. Not to mention in his whole career he has never played all 16 games. That is not good odds and the Buccs have had plenty of years recently of losing QBs during the season. Whoever is QB, I hope they show out or get out since the team now has weapons. I just have a hard time believing Leftwich is capable at all. I read Vince Young may be wanting to go to a new team. He would be better than Leftwich in my opinion.

great write up by Pewter Report as to where some of this junk comes from...
Slant pete Slimes once again jumps the gun on a story, as their reporters are miles away from the action, they misread a team wide high five of leftwich throwing a TD and assume they are more behind him than mccown…..however, as PR was MUCH closer to the action, the convo before the play was that it was a timed play, with seconds to go So Leftwich got a TD with 1 second left on the clock so to speak. It wouldnt have mattered if derrick ward threw the pass. The Slimes ran with the story that the team is now more behind Leftwich than Luke based on what they saw from that play. Of course, national writers cant be everywhere, they pick up local papers and comment based on what they feel is good reporting.
Just think, last year if we would have gotten Brett Favre, maybe WE would have lost 4 of last 5 games of the season like the Jets.....DOH!!!
