Cannon Shots: Mike Vick a Buccaneer? Cutler almost a Buccaneer? Contract Extensions?

I’m telling you right now if the Glazers were to allow Dominik to bring in Mike Vick I would be done. I would leave Buc ‘Em to Craig T, The Bull Gator, and all of you. I couldn’t support this organization anymore. I’m all about giving people second chances, just not people like Vick. He’s a murderer plain and simple. This is a moot point however as Mark has already said he is not interested in Vick.
"Laugh if you want, but it's the absolute truth. McDaniels looked hard at tape of the available quarterbacks from teams that made serious offers, players like Orton, Washington's Jason Campbell and Tampa Bay's Luke McCown. Every one of those teams was in the ballpark with an offer of at least two first-round draft picks and a quarterback." - Sports Illustrated's Peter King
For those that wondered, the Bucs were willing to give up McCown and two No. 1 NFL Draft Picks for QB Jay Cutler. I wouldn’t take that to mean they don’t value Luke, they just valued Cutler more. That doesn’t make the end result any better. It’s been a tough off-season to this point considering we whiffed on Haynesworth, Vilma, and Cutler. That conjures up a bunch of what ifs. Hey at least we re-signed Michael Clayton and acquired Kellen Winslow. I kid because I care.

Kind of frightening that people think Kyle Orton and
Jason Campbell are BETTER than McCown. Doesn’t give me much confidence.
Bring in Vick….whatever. This offseason is so infuriating.

I am going out on a limb and am assumming JScott isn't a Mike Vick fan.....
With that being said, I’m sorry my man, but I am a firm believer in second chances…to an extent. We’ve addressed this before and agree to disagree, but I would sign Vick. Hell, bring in Burress and Stallworth too (we already have Stevens). We can change our team name to The Chain Gang.
Seriously though, Vick has paid the price, literally. He has lost out on more than 100 million dollars and spent 2 years in the pokey. Give the guy a chance, he’s not Hitler for cryin out loud.
I am so with UNFOLE in saying this offseason has been the most frustrating EVER. We have missed out on nearly EVERY major free agent out there. I don’t want to hear how we were in the running for some of those top guys. They didn’t choose us, which makes me wonder why. Anybody else ready for a 5-11 season?

I see no problem with bringing Vick to fight for who will hold the clipboard. Let him work his way from the bottom to the top as 3rd QB
Oh wait, there is that one little problem. The public backlash the Bucs would receive as well as the media attention that would have a negative impact on the organization. I can see PETA protesting whover signs him. Other than that, I say why not?

he has HUGE character issues
that go beyond the scope of the football field… he should start over in the real world not in the NFL where there’s potential to get paid an exorbitant amount of money which could potentially lead to him doing the same thing over again as he gains more confidence and becomes reckless with his money… let the Raiders take that chance

Don't Expect a Ruud extension anytime soon...unless the CBA is worked out
If the CBA is worked out, then Ruud (and other ufa’s with less than six years in the league) will automatically become rfa’s, and the Bucs will be able to lock him up on the cheap. It isn’t what Ruud deserves, but it would make the most financial sense for the Bucs Organization, so I would expect that to happen. However, if the CBA gets worked out and we don’t end up having an uncapped year next year, then I would definitely expect the Bucs to work out a contract with Ruud ASAP.

good point
though good financial sense would have been making Michael Clayton play for less money and making Kellen Winslow play a single snap prior to extending a contract that had two years remaining on it. This is the Bucs we are talking about though.. : )

You guys are falling Apart..
Why is it no one seems to see the Picture here? Just because Ruud didn’t get a Contract extension(Yet) doesn’t mean he won’t. Bringing back Micheal Clayton i think was a good idea. matter a fact a great idea. bringing in Kellen Winslow i think was one of the Best ideas i seen the Buc’s make in awhile.

you have to see where the skepticism fits in though
we are shelling out money to guys who don’t deserve it in a Bucs jersey, over a guy who absolutely deserves it. Clayton and Winslow have had their fair share of injuries to warrant the questions surrounding them. Everybody wants them to succeed, we just dont agree with their compensation…
i mean Winslow got an extension for what he did with the Browns, sorry but that’s bull crap…

Wait.
your telling me you wanna pay A rookie lots of money for what he did in college, but you don’t wanna pay a young NFL player for what he did in the NFL??? if you ask me that doesn’t make sense. thats like you paying someone to build you a house that has no experience in building house but has build things before rather then paying a Professional.(and don’t say its difference in money because Rookie ask for just as much)

well
Then what do you prefer us to sign? a veteran(on the edge of retirement)?
I just don’t see how Winslow doesn’t Deserve a Buc’s jersey? Every one in the NFL gets injured. just because he was out for the season last year doesn’t mean he is having a career ending one. Carnell williams is probably the most injured Player in the NFL right now and i don’t see people Complaining about Him in a buc’s jersey?
