JASON TAYLOR???...

Hey everybody, just wanted to let you know some info on DE Jason Taylor.  I frequently visit this website: www.rotoworld.com for all my fantasy news.  But is a VERY good source for NFL news.  It's where i hear everything first, from every team.  Deffinitely not a biased site, and is updated by the minute!

To the point, here is what it said at roughly 8:00pm today:

The Buccaneers have entered the bidding for free agent Jason Taylor, according to the St. Petersburg Times.

The fit makes lots of sense because Bucs defensive boss Jim Bates knows Taylor well from their Miami days. The Pats and Fins are also knows to have interest. The Bucs would play Taylor at left end, where he struggled last year. http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/player_main.aspx?sport=NFL&id=1305 is the website.
I think Jason Taylor would be a GREAT addition to our defense.  We can get him to mentor -young- Gaines Adams and other DE's, and he would be united with Jim Bates.  Can you imagine him and Gaines opposite of eachother??? Let's hear it guys, i want to know what you think!
GO BUCS!!!!

hey.. we got the money.

As long as it’s not a stupid deal, I would love to have Jason Taylor… Only thing I’m not sure of is his drive. I mean, would Raheem new attitude fit what seems to be a very laid back Jason Taylor these days?

Like I said, If we don’t have to give up too much for him then I would embrace it, but it would be a random patch-work move from Raheem and Dominik who have been everything but the past 101 days.

yea man

That is very true. Deff not a stupid deal. I think maybe at max a 2 year deal. I think Jason has fun playing. Washington was a huge turn for him, hopefully he does fine with in Bates’ system again.

it would be a great pick up i think..but i dont see why the coach and gm would even go after him after saying they wanted to change the team to a yougn and competitive and quick and all that so they can finish down the stretch..they should stick to that..because they dropped many vets like taylor who could still play

Darnit

Haha great point man. Ugh, i wish you never told me that. Brought back ‘Brooks’ memories. But yea, i think Morris would bring Taylor back for Bates, but only if he’s still got ‘it’. He better…

I don't understand

this whole get you fast, everyone must be under 30 attitude. Jason Taylor would be a great stop gap and mentor to our DEs for two years while they mature a bit more.

meant get young fast.

let me explain...

we had more than a solid leader to mentor the younger players.

his name was derrick brooks. he wore #55.
after the massive purge by the new front office, it was made clear that the team was going younger, tougher.
signing taylor would be a slap in the face to the fans, no matter how you spin it.

That may be true but

I have read reports on several occasions that the Bucs are wanting to resign Kevin Carter back but they wanted to wait until after the draft to see if or how they fill that position. According to Profootballtalk.com Kevin Carter was visiting with the Lions yesterday so taking a look at Jason Taylor does make since.

hmmm

I don’t know so much if they were a move to ‘going younger’ necessarily, i feel they cut most of those players because they ‘just dont have it’ anymore. They weren’t what they used to be. If Raheem and Domenik signed him, it would be because they saw something in him.

Leadership and reputation obviously aren’t traits they’re looking for…

Just to add

The way that I understand the move wasn’t quite so much as a youth movement just for the sake of getting younger as many people seem to think but that the coaches see a lot of potential and talent in the guys that were backing up Brooks and June as well as the other older players cut. They may have felt that time itself or the condition and situation that the Bucs find themself in right now is calling for a change at those particular positions. That could be why the Bucs did not address those positions in the draft as many of us thought they would have. If the Bucs were to wait until those guys retired then the talent behind them may be already moved on to other teams. The Bucs did not cut everyone that was 30 and up, just the ones that they felt already had replacements on the roster to fill the spot. If their is a player available that proves to be the best man for the Bucs at that position, I am sure that they will try to sign him no matter what his age. It will probably just be a 1 year deal.

Taylor has also stated

to the Redskins media that he hated playing Left-End. Not to mention he wasn’t any good at it.

just to play devil's advocate here:

Jason Taylor has more experience with Jim Bates’ defense than probably anyone else still in the league. He’d be able to step in immediately and contribute (albeit as a situational rusher, he’s entirely too far past his prime to do much else, last year proved that) to a team that was sorely lacking a pass rush for the last couple seasons. As for the whole left end argument, most passing downs, I was under the impression that Adams got bounced over to the left? Could be wrong, but that’d negate that whole argument, since he’d only be coming in on obvious passing downs anyways.

That being said, I’m against picking him up, in that it flies in the face of the team’s new younger and more physical mentality. Older veterans tend to fade down the stretch far more than younger players… It’s just a fact of life, it sucks, but it can’t be helped.

Everybody knows by now

how I feel about signing vets, this sounds like a done deal but I’m not sure if this is a good move

This would be an interesting move
