Confused..
So I had my mom race us home from work (14 years old, not thirty ha) just so i could see our pick. Honestly i was expecting the pick. But why did we trade up?? I mean did anyone actually think Denver was going to take a qb? Well whatever. At first i hated Freeman. But if all these people are saying he is like Big Ben then hey how bad can he be. And think about it.. If he is bad then we end up like the chargers and Ryan Leaf... get a high pick and pick a true franchise player (Chargers got LT)
But off that topic.. why did we take a OT???
We have a great young line!! The other picks i understand..

I LOVE IT
even a 14 year old kid can see how stupid it was to trade up for a player that nobody wanted!

you have to admit they didnt have to trade up
they could have got him at 19 or even could have traded down

.
No but im not the one making claims that nobody wanted to take him and that we didnt need to trade up. Unless you were there it is just speculation, but seeing as how that info hasnt been given to us, thats an unfair assumption.

As great of a player as LT is...
…one thing had eluded him, a Super Bowl ring.
As for the OT. It was the 5th round. At that point, the best you are looking for is depth. Penn has been somewhat disgruntled with his contract situation and as much as I like Trueblood’s ability and longterm potential, he has penalty issues he has to corral. That was Kenyatta Walker’s problem. He had the talent when he wanted to play. When he didn’t, he was a walking penalty flag.

Possible Reason
Not to mention Davin Joseph got hurt and there is always a need for talented backups. I think the reason the Bucs traded up was because there was a good possibility that Denver would have taken Freeman. Look at their QB situation, they have Chris Simms and Kyle Orton, neither are exactly outstanding. I do not really agree with the trade up because if we had not traded up and Denver did take Freeman we could have picked Ayers. I love defense.

I am with...
JRyan on this one, I would say there was a revlatively decent chance of Denver taking Freeman. I mean at that point they had already taken Moreno and they have as big (or even bigger) a question mark than the Bucs do at QB.

DENVER
and the bucs are on similar paths for sure(both have new coaches new managers both could have won their divisions and collapsed) but i dont think that denver wanted freeman it will be interesting to see how each team winds up at the end of the season

He didn't say Big Ben is bad...
…he said if people are saying Freeman is like Big Ben then how bad can Freeman really be.

I dont care what they said,
Denver was taking Freeman. Dont tell me Denver thinks Kyle Orton is the Franchise Guy that Cutler was! Thats why we traded a spot that no one hardly ever gets a player of value at, to make sure we got the QB of the Future.
..and with the 17th Pick of the 2009 draft, The Tampa Bay Buccaneers remove the Doug Williams Curse!

I'm not sure they were or weren't going to take him...
…but either way, they led us to believe they were. In the end, we really didn’t give up much to move up so it’s really not a big deal. If we had given up a 2nd rounder or Alex Smith to do it or something, I’d be more upset. Whether I agree with the pick or not, if they wanted him and felt it was better for them to jump Denver to do it, so be it. Again, we didn’t give up the farm to do it.
