Don't worry about Bucs QB Luke McCown, he's good to go
Despite the additions of Free Agent QB Byron Leftwich and 1st Round Draft Pick QB Josh Freeman, QB Luke McCown continues to keep his head up and remain in good spirits. He even gets a little snappy in his choice of words while talking to the media:
"I kind of expected it. They are putting together a group of guys that they want to compete, and that's the way they feel they are going to go about doing it, so the competition is welcome in my eyes. I have a great opportunity. I'm going to take the bull by the horns. I feel like I showed a lot in the early mini-camp. I'm going to keep it up, and keep competing. Like I said it doesn't matter to me who they bring in. I'm going to do my best to make sure that person doesn't get to play. It has been a long time coming and I'm going to make sure that I do everything I can to make sure I'm the one playing." - QB Luke McCown per the Pewter Report
Hang in there Luke good things come to those who wait. Or so they say. With the addition of QB after QB, you would think Luke would alienate himself from the other quarterbacks on the roster and shy away from any tutoring type of role, but he’s done the complete opposite of that from day one and it appears it will continue:
"Certainly you know me. I view my role in the NFL as a ministry opportunity. Any time I can do something to help a teammate get better I'll do it. That certainly doesn't take away from my competitive edge either. I'm going to try and help Josh get better. At the same time I'm going to do everything I can to stay a leg up. I would gladly take on a mentor role, and do whatever I can, and teach whatever I could to Josh, and hopefully contribute to him having a successful career." - QB Luke McCown per the Pewter Report
The first voluntary mini-camp has come and gone, the NFL Draft just whisked on by, and I am starving to see how this QB competition unfolds. Everyone I’ve talked to assumes Byron Leftwich will start the year as the signal caller, but I have a feeling Luke McCown might carry that title. By the way the Rookie Mini-Camp begins next weekend.

That is good to know...
It was bad enough that Gruden made a reputation for himself to say one thing but not ever seem back it up. For the past three months Coach Morris has seemingly defended his choice to resign McCown saying who knows, he could be another Tom Brady. Nobody knew Tom Brady until he got a chance. Or he could even be a Drew Brees. After making comparisons like that he will look much like Gruden if he doesn’t give McCown that chance He himself said McCown deserved.

true
if McCown doesnt rise to the top though it’s on him and him only. Raheem is giving all 5 QB’s the opportunity to take this job. If McCown doesnt start out of the gates this could be the end for him.
