With the 81st Pick in the NFL Draft the Tampa Bay Buccaneers select:

No. 81

Presented by Buc'Em

Roy Miller
Defensive Tackle
Texas

The Bucs had to get some Defensive help with this Pick. Miller provides that help along the defensive line. He has a non-stop motor and as The Bull Gator said he’s allowed Brian Orapko lanes to get to the QB. That is exactly what we need on our Defensive Line. At over 300 pounds he will definitely clog the middle and look to free up our Linebackers. This is a solid pick in the third round.

Per Draft Countdown:

Roy Miller

6'1, 310 pounds | Texas | Defensive Tackle

Strengths: Very strong...Active with a great motor...Tough and physical...Uses proper leverage...Is stout at the point...Gets some penetration...Nice instincts and awareness...Reliable tackler...Solid technician...Intense and aggressive...Durable with a lot of experience...Terrific work ethic.

Weaknesses: Doesn't have the ideal height that you look for...Short arms...Marginal athlete...Not overly quick or explosiveness...Has some trouble getting off blocks...Average pass rusher with a limited repertoire...Upside ???

Roy Miller on joining the Bucs:

"I’m excited. Definitely very excited to be a part of that organization. They’ve had some great players come through there – some great defensive players. Going into this whole thing, I interviewed with them at the Shrine Bowl and I didn’t come in for a visit, so I didn’t really have any idea that they would pick me. You read [the scouting reports] and definitely it pisses you off. Everybody has an opinion. I take a lot of pride. I’m honored to be a Buc, but I feel there were a lot of guys that went ahead of me that shouldn’t have. Those kinds of things I feed off when I play. It is what is. To me, I feel like I’m the best defensive tackle in the draft. Watching everybody come off the board, [is motivation], I knew a couple of guys were going to go based on the hype that they got, but yeah I watched. Like I said before those kinds of things push me. I’ll feed off of them" - DT Roy Miller per the Pewter Report

Love It

Great pick. Fills a need with a guy who has lots of tape and tape that shows a very high level of production and a great motor. There are as many highlights of him making plays as finishing them. Who cares about what this guys does in the gym he looks big time fast for a DT in GAMES, closing QBs and RBs on the run. This guy is going to push Hovan big time.

i like the pedigre

he and Kyle Moore bring. Coming in from USC and Texas they bring a successful mentality aboard and i think that will rub off on some of our more complacent players
