"I don't want to hold him back, and I don't want to rush him in. We are going to get him in here, and let him practice. I am married to him. ‘I told Luke, I'm not handing you anything. Worst-case scenario, I'm drafting a quarterback with the 19th pick.’ In my office with Luke McCown - we had this conversation. ‘The worst-case scenario for you is your Drew Brees if you become my starter and I have to trade you. But then I get value for you and you get value for yourself. Your Matt Cassel and your contract runs out and I trade you.' He's pretty jacked up, and so is Bryon. They see opportunity. This guy coming in is the franchise guy and the long-term answer. No doubt about it. If he forces his will on the opponent and becomes the best quarterback, there is a chance you will see him play [this year]." - Head Coach Raheem Morris on QB Josh Freeman playing this season and Luke McCown's potential future.

WOW
Raheem Morris is nothing if he’s not blunt, straight to the point, and honest. I don’t care what Luke McCown says or any other QB on the roster for that matter, this draft pick today stings…
Raheem even said worst case scenario he drafts another QB with that 19th pick. Best case for Luke he plays his heart out only to get traded, LOL…
This could absolutely blow up in Raheem’s face… I admire his mettle though as he stands by his convictions and doesnt sugar coat much…

I absolutely hate the pick.
With a passion. I hate it down to my very core.
I want to be proven wrong. If he ends up being the franchise QB we’ve been waiting for since Doug Williams, I’ll gladly eat my words. I really can’t stress enough how badly I want to be proven wrong.
But… I just don’t see this ending well.

Franchise Guy?
That was the first time I have heard Franchise Guy and Josh Freeman in the same sentence.
