Cutler on the Block, per Denver owner Pat Bowlen
Welp... the other shoe has fallen. Cut away all the bull crap Jay Cutler is now on the trading block, per Denver owner Pat Bowlen. Let the bidding begin. That said, it looks like Jay Cutler will probably get dealt before the draft, which could make the price increase and the bidders manic. Look for the Jets, Vikings, and Lions to be major players in this game. If I had to guess where he ends up, I'd say the Lions have the best package to offer, with 2 first round picks at their disposal and the first pick in each round, which would invariably be higher than the picks in each round of the other teams. This would require a team like the Vikes to do better than the Lions' 20th pick and second round offering (as a hypothetical). In this scenario, the Vikes would have to part with two firsts to better the Lions' package. Plus, the Broncos would probably secretly like to stick it to Cutler by sending him to the poor Lions.
That said, it's time to fuel the Buccaneer rumors again as the Cutler fiasco possibly heads down the stretch. Are you all comfortable with giving the winner of the JJ, McCown, Griese, Akili Smith Josh Freeman (just guestimating here) competition free reign at the QB position for the near future... or is it time to go after Cutler hard? What do you all say?
Kudos to BucsFan021...

You always upgrade the QB position when the opportunity presents itself
Although I am comfortable with seeing how Luke McCown does this year (and I am even ever so slowly becoming more intrigued by JJ), I think that the Bucs should pull the trigger, but only for the right price. A first this year and a third next year could work, but we do run the risk of hurting ourselves down the road much like we did when we traded for Gruden. We could lose players that could be a part of the future core of the team.
I am thankful there are smarter men than me making this decision for the Bucs.

Also, if they are really considering Freeman as a front-runner for who they want to take in the first round
then it would make sense to go after a guy who has proven himself to be a good QB at the NFL level already.

a First and a Third??
Are you serious? The Bucs have ZERO shot if that’s what they’d offer. Your posters need more education. There are going to be a minimum of ten teams bidding on this guy. Why would the Bucs 1st and 3rd get it done over those other 9 teams? Seriously, poster number one, explain your logic please.

i'm with you
we would have to finance next years draft for him. He’s good but he isn’t that good.

I think he is...
I say we give up two #1s. He is the best young QB out there. The Bucs have never had a franchise QB and we could lock him up long-term.

First of all, I never said it would get it done
I only said that if for any reason it would, then do it. If you actually read the post, you will notice that I said not to go over that, because he is good, but not worth the damage our trade for Gruden did. So, I guess I’d like you to explain your logic behind attacking a post without actually reading it (or maybe just not understanding it). Go troll some other site.

+1
we do need the draft picks, mccown to me at least looked good in his short tenor as Buc’s QB, and the Buc’s are going to be out bid by half the teams mentioned. (not to mention I was about 5 minutes quicker than BucsFan021 and his !!!! in getting this news to the site)
Kaz/Shields/Garza/Sonny/Price/Davis/Hellickson-necessitate a drool cup or a 7 man rotation

My prediction is that Dan Snyder overpays greatly for him
which would also mean that a decent and somewhat unproven QB in Jason Campbell might be available on the cheap

ESPN's Chris Mortensen
has the Bucs as the front runners to nab Cutler, he didnt offer much in the way of compensation other then that they were interested earlier in the off-season
