Derek Anderson for 1st Round Pick
Here is a scenario that I have been thinking about.
We are sitting on the clock at draft time. Jerry Peria is right there for us to grab him, but is that the best opportunity for us? What if, we instead traded our 1st round pick for Derek Anderson AND Shaun Rogers? We'd get the quarterback to add for competition and the big beefy DT we're searching for.
Now I'm not a trade expert and I don't know if this is a fair trade for them or us, but even if we add a pick or lower the original pick, does this scenario sound like a situation we should think about persuing?
If we did, then we would've grabbed 3 of Cleveland's most important starters from last year..

I don't know.
Rogers is 30 and Anderson had 1 good season. I’m not sold. Anderson may come in and shit the bed and who’s to say he’s better than Luke? Trade our 19th for NE’s 3ea 2nd rounders if the guy they REALLY want isn’t there at 19.

I don't like the trade.
But i never said it can’t happen. i just feel more comfortable with the 1st round pick.

NO..........
if Kansas City got Cassell for a 2nd……Anderson would be a 3rd or 4th…..lets try for a quarterback next year if Luke doesn’t pan out

It wasn't just anderson.
It included Shaun Rodgers whom is one of the top DT’s in this league

Anderson alone would be a 3rd
and your saying Rodgers is only worth a 7th round? He is definitely one of the top 10 defensive tackles in the game right now when he is at his best.

ha.. ok that is a lil more conceivable :)
But I saw the same proposition posed to Pat Yas. from the ESPN Nation blog (interesting as mere days after I had asked the question here) and he said it would take a 1st AND a 3rd to likely grab both of these guys. I think both players would be a wonderful addition to the Bucs, but I don’t want to give Cleveland all of our day one draft picks.

No
Derek Anderson has a big arm but he has trouble reading defenses and he’s about as mobile as a phone booth. His second time around the league defenses picked him apart. Shaun Rogers is fat and lazy, he signed a huge contract with Cleveland and now he wants out, I don’t want that. Plus adding Winslow, Anderson, AND Rogers? Do we want to be the Cleveland Browns?

why not quinn & rogers
quinns young and has a decent arm. rogers is a beast and if it doesnt pan out because of the tough schedule this year we go after one of the BIG 3. tebow, mcoy n bradford
