Tampa Bay Buccaneer's Management Approval Rating
The President of the Untied States has to live under scrutiny of an approval rating. Let's get Mark Dominik's, The Glazer's and Tampa's Coaching Staff's approval status in order to get the true pulse of the fan-base.
While there are so many factors that can play into this decision (is it Glazers being cheap? Bates with too much say? A Young Head Coach? GM Mark Dominik being ignorant? etc) we will simply ask about the overall picture.
Why am I throwing this up now? Good question! There is still a long time to go in the off-season and we will occasionally take your pulse. Now, Just before the Draft, After the draft, and towards the beginning of next season.... It is only YES or NO strictly for the sake of not speculating what is next. You could vote YES because you like what they have done or you like the direction they are heading. You can vote NO because you don't like the moves they've done or you anticipate the collapse.
So let's get started.

I agree with that sentiment...
I just don’t think we are doing that correctly.

I voted no
Are we fielding a better team than last years? Younger doesn’t equal better. Cutting Dunn, Hilliard, and maybe Galloway I agreed with. But Brooks could provide leadership, been a good role player and only cost you a roster spot and 3mil/yr. June is only 29 and obviously better than the LBs behind him or he wouldn’t be starting. All the FAs they’ve invited in aren’t signing for whatever reason. I will remain skeptical until opening day.

I have to say...
…I think there are two many questions lumped into this. Glazers being cheap? YES. Dominik not cutting it? Maybe not, but that might be directly because of the Glazers (as we’ve discussed before). Morris’ or Bates’ fault? Maybe, but again, how much are they being allowed to do at this point. I wouldn’t be surprised if we have new ownership within the next few years and the Glazers are holding back until that point. I’m not blaming Dominik or the coaches until it’s clearly something we can attribute to them. At this point, we honestly don’t know what’s going on behind closed doors.
That and there is too much of the “we have the money, we should sign people” going around. Sorry, but we are clearly in rebuilding mode. We just promoted a new coach that had only been a coordinator for about 2 minutes. We lost one of the best defensive minds in the game over the last 10 years. We cut two of the most recognizable players in the franchise’s history. And we are still one HUGE question mark at QB (and even other positions). Why would a number of those FAs sign with us when they are getting comparable offers from teams they may feel are closer to the promised land? Think of other sports even. Shaq went to the Lakers for less money than the Magic offered. At the time, the Lakers had more pieces to compete for years to come. All I’m saying is don’t write everything off as Dominik not doing his job or the coaches not selling the franchise well enough, if I’m one of these players, I’d probably be thinking the same thing Albert Haynesworth actually came out and said.
Just because a team has cap space, doesn’t mean they can get whoever they want. This isn’t Madden.

Your right...
there is a lot of questions lumped in. That’s why instead of giving one specific person an approval rating we give the management in general. There are a lot more questions that are lumped into a President’s approval rating as well. It’s just an “In General” question.
I understand your sentiment that it’s not Madden. With that being said it is the management’s responsibility to sell the franchise to a specific player. We have clearly done a terrible job of doing that. Does it look bad that we have no pieces? Absolutely. Which is another indirect consequence of poor management.
Also…..the Shaq decision was FAR more than having the right pieces in place. If you remember…the Magic weren’t far off.

True the Magic weren't far off...
…but given the choice between both teams, 9 times out of 10, someone would sign with the Lakers. We just aren’t a franchise with the history of some of the others. Of course some players don’t care and just want the “quan” (isn’t that what Rod Tidwell called it), but some do. I’m just basically saying, regardless of cap space, I don’t know that I expected too much in the first offseason of the Dominik/Morris regime. I definitely wanted more, but I can’t put the entire blame on management for not selling the franchise and I wouldn’t say they are doing a terrible job of it because they may be trying a lot harder than we know. Then again, I could be wrong and they could be doing all the wrong things. We’ll never know for sure. Just my thoughts.

They need to "feed their families"
or pay child support. Hey, I hear Travis Henry needs some $ for all his children.

…the last thing we need is Travis Henry.

Henry had a 400+ yard game against my high school...
…when he was at Frostproof.
Trivia time: What other Tenn alum went to Frostproof? That’s right…ALVIN HARPER! It all comes back around to Harper somehow.

I voted no because...
the release of brooks and company seemed to me like a salary dump. For a team that had a huge amount of money to begin with, we didn’t have to do this. If it was because we wanted to get younger, then dropping June makes no sense. If Bates has a different idea of what the defense should be like then they should have made a better push in free agency. Right now our linebacking core looks scary (in the bad way).
Haynesworth wanted to come here, even with a young coach, until they made the cuts. I worry that the team is looking forward t the top pick next season.

Let's hope not.
We have to keep some resemblance of a team this year or we are going through coaching changes again next off-season.
Thanks for voting.
Also thanks for putting this up on the main board.
