Please...
…do NOT copy and paste entire articles. There are copyright issues with doing so. I am editing the post and linking to the original article.

No...
…because I don’t have anything to do with either industry, but thanks for the attempt at humor.

I believe its called sarcasm
A properly quoted article with credit given to the author/owner for non-commercial/non-profit use falls under the U.S Fair Use copyright laws. Not that I got to see how it was posted originally, considering it was edited and linked before I got a chance to read it., I’m simply assuming it was posted correctly
I understand that you wish to play it safe and not stray into any gray area concerning copyright laws, as its an ugly minefield to play in these days, but I see no reason to bring down the e-gavel when its posted correctly with full credit given to the original site/author/owner.

I don't know how it was posted,
but we’ve proposed rules on this site. Take it or leave it.

I'm not going to get into a pissing match.
Follow our site rules. Don’t copy and paste entire articles. End of story.

Well there you go...
I wasn’t expecting a pissing match, a simple clarification was all. I have no problem following site rules, and had it been stated from the beginning of this that that is what the problem was, I never would have bothered chiming in at all.
My apologies if I came off like a e-dick, that was not my intended purpose.

From my perspective, that rule was included
so that people, linking a site or not, don’t post anything that risks a copyright infringement issue. Pasting articles without linking anything (and offering no personal commentary, which is what fanposts are for in the first place) are things we’ve had to recently address and remedy. A prohibition on cutting and pasting eliminates this issue without having to apply and decipher the copyright laws. So it’s not accurate to say our site rules are different from copyright infringement.
That said, I can appreciate you wanting an understanding. That’s where I’m coming from.

I understand the rule...
and I agree with it, as being a private board, rules on the board, as well as those laid down by the parent hosting company should be followed as closely as possible. My only real problem was the presumption that a quoted article was an inherit infringement of copyright laws, when that isn’t necessarily true, and in many cases ‘interpretations’ of copyright law are often draconian in nature (thus the sarcastic RIAA/MPAA comment).
That being said, its all good, and we have an understanding =D

Glad this was all cleared up and we can move on...
…basically what I was getting at is there’s a difference between quoting an article and providing proper credit and just pasting the entire content of the article. Even if you put where it’s from and who wrote it, there’s no need to paste an entire article. Just provide a link and we don’t even have to get as far as discussing issues. I wasn’t stating it was a clear violation of copyright laws. I was just stating there are copyright issues we’d rather not even approach so let’s do our best to avoid it all together.
Anyway, glad this has all been cleared up and we can all move on amicably.
