General Manager Mark Dominik

On Derrick Brooks:
"I have had the fortune of being here for all 14 seasons of Derrick's extraordinary career, and have seen firsthand the impact he has had on every aspect of this organization. He was a true professional in every sense of the word. He will forever represent the standard by which all future Buccaneers are measured."

On Warrick Dunn:
"Warrick Dunn has represented this organization on so many levels with his unselfishness on and off the field. He is a great football player and unmatched competitor. Warrick’s work in the community is evident by the number of people he has touched with his kindness."

On Joey Galloway, Ike Hilliard and Cato June:
"We thank Joey, Ike and Cato for their contributions to this franchise over the last several years. They were crucial to our success and we appreciate all of their hard work."

Head Coach Raheem Morris

On Derrick Brooks:
"There is no way to adequately thank Derrick Brooks for his years of dedication and service to this team and community, or for his impact on me personally. He is a once in a lifetime kind of player and man, and I am very fortunate to have had the chance to work with him and learn from him. Those who played with him and coached him are better because of it."

On the other released players:
"All of these guys are very special in our hearts and within our organization. I would like to thank them for their dedication and commitment to our franchise over the years."

This was painful

Unlike in 2003, post Super Bowl, I coudl understand the moves this time — well, in a best-case-scenerio thoughts on things. Older players, a youth movement, a needed change…

In the past, it was cutting fan favorites not to foster new growth but to make way for the coaches prefered favorites — both overpriced and overaged additions to the roster.

I expect Ronde to retire… Bu seeing Brooks and Dunn (no pun intended) cut loose as well as June? Painful. Painful…

He was already on the fence with coming back

This is third person hearsay I’m about to repeat but Eric Deggans of the St. Pete Times talked to Tiki Barber during the Golden Globes and Tiki said that Ronde was still undecided about coming back but would be back “if they get things cleared up on offense” during the off-season.

Note, this was before the coaching and upper management shakeups.

You may be right, he may stick it out… But then again, what types of encouraging things have the Bucs done so far with the roster? Trimmed older players off the roster and Re-signed the 3rd string QB from last season.

oh yeah

if Ronde were to call it quits todays actions would go a long way in solidifying that decision for him. He just went to the Pro Bowl however so i cant see him hanging them up. Leaving Tampa sure, but not retiring from the game

Raheem seems so young

especially when he puts “man” in half his sentences

What???

There is certainly an adequate way from a business standpoint to thank Derrick Brooks. Raheem is talking out of both sides of his mouth. What better way to allow younger players to prove themselves then by competing against one of the best all-around team members that anyone could ask for. If I were a young Buc player, I’d be looking for a way out. How can you seriously ask someone to give blood, sweat and tears for this type of treatment? These guys think we are stupid.
