Buccaneers Will Add Another QB Through Free Agency or NFL Draft
Posted on behalf of JScott.
I purposely left out a portion of the Jagodzinski Media information overload because I thought it was worth discussing separately and I didn’t want it to be overlooked. When asked about how many Quarterbacks Jags wanted to take to minicamp he said FOUR.
We currently have three QB’s on the roster: Luke McCown, Brian Griese, and Josh Johnson. Griese is clearly the Veteran so that leaves us to either signing a young Free Agent (McCown) or drafting a QB. I’m leaning toward the Draft. I hope it’s predicated on one thing: A QB falling to us in the 1st Round. I’m not sold on the Freeman kid, 34 interceptions in 35 games is hellish. I’m not trying to forecast anything; I just thought it was an interesting piece of information.
We have no idea what direction this team is going to go in come Draft Day. Anxiety builds…

i agree with that whole heartedly as i'm
dreaming of a ‘Bucs sign McCoy’ scenario, but i also think this is the NFL and Gruden screwed up by not initially drafting a QB and grooming the guy for the future. He rolled the dice on veteran after veteran, so I can’t fault this current staff if they feel the need to bring in a guy they feel they can cultivate..
The hardest thing this fan base is going to have to do at this point is trust the coaching staff and their potential roster moves. At this point we have no idea what direction they are going to go in, but based on the bright minds Raheem/Dominik brought in, you can only defer to them and hope they make the correct decisions..
i’m honestly waiting with bated breath to see the direction this team goes in

Well the way things are looking...
we are probably going to end up with a top 5 first round pick this next year, so a McCoy to Bucs move is looking more and more possible.. and I will dance in the puddles of my 09 seasons tears.

I dont know that I am 'sold' on
Freeman, but i don’t know that I’m against it either. It’s def. not ideal. There are a couple (yes, only a couple) of other people I would be super interested in drafting. A lot of guys I am indifferent to. However, if there is a chance? The guy threw a lot of those interceptions in the first two years. He curbed his INT ratio every year under completely inept coaching at KSU. He has a laser arm, great size and descent mechanics. That means really the reason he was throwing int’s is the inability to read defenses and make the correct decision (all due to inept coaching….trust me I know as an FSU fan what inept coaching can do to a qb).
Jags is far from inept. Again…I’m not saying it’s the right decision, but I don’t think its the wrong one. I personally think there is little surprise he is going to be our draft pick.

I wouldn't be surprised by it either
however, I’m not sold on him, especially in the first round and when we can hold off and splurge on a true franchise QB in the next draft… lets seal up that run D and/or give us some more youth/speed at CB
