Michael Clayton out 1-2 weeks with knee sprain
Michael Clayton is out for Sunday's game at Carolina with a sprained knee and could also be unavailable for the Bucs next game at home versus the New York Jets. Clayton is tied for 5th on the team in receptions with 14 for a paltry 204 yards, so his absence shouldn't exactly rock the foundation of the Buccaneer passing game.

Good opportunity for Stovall.... with Clayton out lets see how he does
His numbers are already better than Clayton and Stovall is a reserve. I like the combo of Freeman/Stovall. Both are tall which helps over smaller DB’s and Mo and Free looked good in Camp together, connecting on a lot of passes.

I found it particularly hilarious that during Sunday's game
they kept showing Clayton was out and talked about how big of a loss it was, and I don’t think any of us even blinked.

To be fair
It is when it comes to blocking. Other then that, eh.

Will Clayton be here next year?
He’s a bro, of course.

If they bring back Clayton
without reworking his contract then I question their sanity. He is not worth even half of what he is being paid. He doesn’t have any more excuses. He has been on the field A LOT this year and still isn’t producing. Not to mention all the drops. If his ego can take a hit and he would like to contribute on special teams then I would welcome that, but I don’t want him lining up on the offense.
Here’s an idea; if he likes contact so much maybe he should work on transitioning to safety. At least there is lack of hands wouldn’t be put on display so much.

Just a question
do you think Clayton honestly has the speed to play back there?

I'm not really sure.
I can’t remember the last time I actually saw him run fast. Not kidding. What’s your average safety forty time? He ran a 4.59 out of LSU. Of course he is a lot fatter now, but if he got back into shape he might be able to still hit 4.5+
Just looked it up and Ed Reed ran a 4.57 so he is right up there with that, but Polamalu ran a 4.35 so I don’t know.
It was more of a joke though. Clayton is far too old to switch entirely from offense to defense. He doesn’t have any of the instincts he would have naturally developed over the course of playing defense in high school, college etc. Of course, Sabby doesn’t seem to possess these instincts either so maybe he has a chance.

I'd imagine they'd give him another shot.
But not without giving him serious competition from either free agency or the draft (Maybe 2nd round or 3rd). Maybe even allow Stroughter to battle. They gave him the benefit of the doubt and he got his shots, so from now on I’d say he’s own his own and he’d have to fight to keep the spot.
Shame considering he went to the receiving camp with some of the league’s best.

Can somebody answer this question(s):
Is there a difference between the money/contract we payed Clayton and the money/contract we payed Luke McCown besides the price/length of contract? I’m pretty sure both were extensions. We let go of McCown.
Do we still have to pay McCown? I was wondering because i don’t see any reason in keeping Clayton next season, and if there would be a possibility he could be back.
He’s very slow, has awful hands, and is highly overpaid (IMO). Great blocker though.

Clayton was a free agent, he got a brand new deal. And there was guaranteed money involved.
We ate Luke’s guaranteed money.

Yeah, they gave Luke $2 mil and then sent him packing.
Why can’t I get a deal like that? lol
