History Says our Win will come in.....
Out of curiosity I traced all of the teams that went 0-7 in the last 20 years. I wanted to know what the average week they got their win was and how many games (on average) they won. I know this has no implications on our season, but my thought behind this was there has to be a breaking point. I wanted to find that. At some point teams are able to put it together enough to come out on top for at least 1 week. Below is a chart that tracks all of these teams.
| Year | Team | Game Won | Total Wins |
| 89 | Cowboys | 9th Game | 1 |
| 91 | Colts | 10th Game | 1 |
| 93 | Bengals | 11th Game | 3 |
| 94 | Bengals | 9 | 3 |
| 96 |
Falcons | 9 | 3 |
| 96 | Jets | 9 | 1 |
| 97 | Bears | 8 | 4 |
| 97 | Colts | 11 | 3 |
| 98 | Panthers | 8 | 4 |
| 99 | Browns | 8 | 2 |
| 00 | Chargers | 12 | 1 |
| 02 | Bengals | 8 | 2 |
| 07 | Dolphins | 9 | 3 |
| 07 | Rams | 14 | 1 |
| 08 | Bengals | 9 | 4.5 |
| 08 | Lions | 0 | 0 |
| Avg | 10 | 2 |
The Lions skew the averages a bit, but if the averages tell us anything it says the Bucs will get their win in Week 11 (10th game) against the Saints. Obviously, I wouldn't play the averages on this, but it gives us an expectation that we should win a game between Weeks 10-13. The numbers also say that the average team to go 0-7, wins at least two games. I don't think this is unreasonable.
Again, I do think their is a tipping point. It obviously includes a lot of variables (opponent, injuries, etc), but we'll see it come at some point. Just be patient.

That puts Miami and Seattle in the cross hairs.
I’m not sure beating the Saints is realistic, but anything is possible. I like our chances at Miami IF (big if) Bates will unleash a few blitzes. Henne doesn’t scare me and with Talib on Camarillo/Hartline and Ronde on Bess, I think we can get T-Jack or Black blitzing from the edge to slow the WIldcat down.

I like our chances against Dolphins. I would give us a 40% chance of winning.
I actually would give us about a 30% against the Pack.

look how the Panthers ran on the Bucs
The Dolphins will be in that realm against the Bucs.

I was unfortunately there for that game
but Miami has no receivers to be worried about. Blitz Ronde off the edge to force the Wildcat inside. The Saints gave us the game plan to beat Miami. Come in hot off the corner.

I didn't calculate Lions as 0...I counted them as 18 for all of you stats/math freaks.

18 for "week won" and 0 for Total games.
Now I’m just confusing everyone.

In 83 and 85, we got our win both years in week 10
Will the NY Jets please stop wearing those Titans uniforms. For a team that was only around for one year, Ive seen those uniforms 5 times already!

I remembered your piece.
I did a quick search for it and came up empty so I didn’t link to it. I also couldn’t remember which week you said it was.

If you have this info, great, if not, dont worry about it
Do you have who each team beat to get their first win? I’d be curious to see if they beat better teams, or other lowly teams. Without context it’s hard to draw any conclusions, but might be interesting.

Good Point.
For the Bucs in the years I mentioned, in 1983 we beat the Vikings. We discovered that James Wilder was a better Tailback than fullback, and by the 3rd game, he got a nice 200+ yard rushing day vs Vikes. Minnesota finished 8-8 that year. 1985 we shut out the Cardinals 16-0 at home. St. Louis Cardinals as they were the Cardinals back in 85, finished 5-11 and last place in the NFC East.

I don't have the info...
but it seems like it was against mostly bottom feeders. A lot of divisonal foes (which makes sense if you play them twice, you have a better opp for a win.
I went back with 6 teams just now…i didn’t want to do them all and none of them beat overly impressive teams.

Yeah even the Bucs in our worst years...
still beat Detroit, Chicago, Green Bay, and Minnesota here and there, except during those teams dominant years.
We didnt beat Chicago at all from 1983-1989, then we swept them. Green Bay took us pretty much from 93-97, however even when Detroit was good we always beat them at least once a year it seemed.
So Im sure other teams likewise had success against division opponents even ones better than they were.

Universally coaches and players will say it is extremely difficault to beat a team twice.
