Bucs of Days Gone By
So, I was reading about the Chiefs and their poor record today, and noticed that during one of the Chiefs' "legacy games", the coach was wearing the coach's polo for the Dallas Texans. Would you want Raheem Morris to wear the old orange, white and red too this Sunday? There's more past the jump...
So why is this interesting or otherwise unusual? I just thought I'd point out how ironic the game on Sunday will be. That 1976 had its moments of lacking in discipline, but more specifically, the sorry play in spite of the talent on the team (some of those guys played their way into the Pro Bowl and the 1979 NFC title game...can't really deny they had some talent), the seeming ineptitude in particular of the offense, and the lack of stability at the quarterback position are the most glaring similarities. It almost seems fitting that the game the Bucs bring back the orange and white is in the middle of an 0-7 season. It almost would be wrong otherwise.
Fortunately, we've not had such bad things happen as, say, Aqib Talib being thrown out of a game for fighting (which would hark back to Mike Washington doing the same in week 4 against the Baltimore Colts in '76). The difference, perhaps, would be that whereas Rich McKay was often finding biting humor in the Bucs' poor 1976 performance, Raheem really seems to think it's just going to get better. But if Raheem's post-game comments are any indicator, our poor Bucs have a long ways to go yet.
So, in summation–should Raheem wear the orange, red, and white to go with the old Bucs uniforms on Sunday?

I think you must have meant to say John McCay
Rich McCay was a GM.
John McCay has some awesome quotes. You should check them out sometime. Here’s one of my favorites that really applies to this season:
“If you have everyone back from a team that loses ten games, experience isn’t too important.” – John McCay

More John McKay
Reporter – “How do you feel about your team’s execution?”
McKay – “I’m in favor of it.”

its McKay though, not two C's...
Will the NY Jets please stop wearing those Titans uniforms. For a team that was only around for one year, Ive seen those uniforms 5 times already!

Um....well, where to begin...
for one, the 76 team did not score touchdowns, I dont know where you got that one from!
Bucpower.com is the No.1 resource for all things historical with the Bucs….
Here is the 1976 game summary page..

Keep in mind that this 76 team was made up of nothing but rejects from other teams. They couldnt settle on a QB, because there wasnt one worth a damn on the roster.
Also, it that day, it wasnt considered as taboo to go from College to Pros because there hadnt been so many failures like there have since then. This wasnt a risky move putting John McKay in, he won 4 National Championships.
So Im sorry to say, but your entire article is based on untruth. There was NO talent on this team, the entire team was replaced in 3 years, where only 5 starters were still left, in an era of no free agency or movement of any kind.
There is really nothing this years team has in common with the 76 team, except the uniform.
Here is a nice article you should read on what 1976 was really like.

They have this in common too. :)
Morris only had 1 year of DC experience with KState that had a 5-7 record and a defense that averaged giving up 30 points a game. They gave up 73 points in one game, ouch. Not much comparison with McKay, other than they both coached the Bucs.

I actually went and looked at KStates Defensive stats from 2006 and they improved across the board in 2007 when Morris got there.
More sacks, more intercptions, the defense was better in scoring too in 07 from 06. By ’08 their stats had gone back to 06 levels, so He made a difference out there. If you compare the numbers in the same team from year to year, you will see it.your probably right though, K state probably wasnt a good defense compared to other teams, especially playing that era in the conference they played in.

But then...
why is he head coach? Apparently he’s good at defense, so leave him with that.

Tony Dungy was good with defense,
Mike Singletary was good with defense too…
So was Mike Tomlin…
Players play…coaches coach.
You dont see any players loafing in practice…thats the word from Pewter report.
The media has given players the opportunity to trash the team’s coaching staff, on and off the record, but that hasn’t happened, or at least not based on Pewter Report’s conversations with players.
One Buc Place doesn’t have a lot of finger pointing taking place and the locker room certainly isn’t divided. Instead, the majority of players have held themselves accountable.
The players, not the coaches, have committed penalties, dropped passes, blown assignments and turned the ball over during this 0-7 start.
Sounds like the Coaching is not the problem. Its the players.
When we get some good ones in a couple of years, ,

But the coaches put the players there.
It’s the coaches job to put the team together and decides who plays.

True, so go down the roster and find players put on the team this year and count their pos/neg on Raheem / Dominick;
And then everyone else goes on gruden/allens tab.

Morris/Dominik get my vote
Freeman(still early), Kellen Winslow, Miller, Moore, Stroughter………pretty nice!
You have to give them some credit for having confidence in Clayton. They aren’t going to be perfect but their percentage is very good.

I agree. Thus far the talent scouting abilities of
Morris & Dominick seem to be superior to the Gruden – Allen connection..
