BucShots...midseason coaching changes? Talib story just that...& More

Straight out of Dr. Who time warp...

Straight out of Dr. Who time warp...

NFL.com's Vic Carucci says anyone who is for mid-season coaching changes is just committing a knee-jerk reaction.

From the Mouth of Morris... Talib never disrespected him. .....As I've said..don't listen to rumours. When it's in the Times, Tbo.com, its fact. When its on JoeBucsFan, its speculation. Didnt we learn anything from Dan Sileo about jumping on unconfirmed reports?? Seeing it somewhere is not confirmation. Seeing it on a reputable source, is.

Pewter Report gets into  New Kicker #3 ( as they will be known from now on. I wont call one by their name until they make two field goals in a row). He looks....like a kicker.

Star-divide

Whats next for the international series? Paul Stewart of Bucpower.com talks about it here...

From the Bucs own website, talk of how the players are not quitting...how this team refuses to throw in the towel.

Roy Cummings of the Tampa Tribune talks about how there is plenty of blame to go around for offensive woes!

Former Buccaneer Scott Brantley is doing better these days after suffering mini-strokes last year.

Hmm

I had kind of been doubting this story from the get-go. It sounds appealing to someone like me who doesn’t support Morris, but it was a bit too sketchy.

Im sure there were words..but does that mean he was cussing him out and disrespecting him?

Imagine if your with your boys, and you start talking the way you talk, and reporters heard it…

" Oh my god..he is disrespecting him…" Before reputable outfits like the Times or Tribune print something, they are going to have all of their ducks in a row. JoeBucsfan, BigDog, they dont have to.. neither do we to be honest. Were just a blog, we can say what we want, and where we are proven wrong we can say " Hey, we heard it from more than one source, its just our opinion"… But arn’t there enough blogs like that?

It just didnt make sense. Morris may be chummy with the guys, but he has shown he can drop the hammer when he has to with them, at least IMO. The difference however is huge. It was made to look as if Raheem had lost control of the team, when in fact they are still playing for him. You can knock Morris for his mistakes, but you cant knock him for his relationship with his team when the relationship is healthy.

Will the NY Jets please stop wearing those Titans uniforms. For a team that was only around for one year, Ive seen those uniforms 5 times already!

The fact that Morris

is friendly with the players is both a blessing and a curse. Gruden was notorious for not getting along with players. In my opinion it really hurt free agency. Morris’ relationships with players may help out in free agency in the long run (if he can keep his job past this season)

But I also think that the close relationship can be a hindrance when it come to things like discipline.

You get what you pay for.

With All Due Respect
From the Mouth of Morris… Talib never disrespected him. …..As I’ve said..don’t listen to rumours. When it’s in the Times, Tbo.com, its fact. When its on JoeBucsFan, its speculation. Didnt we learn anything from Dan Sileo about jumping on unconfirmed reports?? Seeing it somewhere is not confirmation. Seeing it on a reputable source, is.

I would hardly say this is official confirmation that Talib never disrespected Morris. What’s Morris supposed to say? He is best served by the appearance of having control over his team. The NFL is a league of secrecy and deception like no other. We are coming off the Gruden/Allen regime where you almost knew they were being dishonest with the media.

I am also not saying that Morris was disrespected as there is no proof. Simply, this is the position Morris needed to take whether or not he was disrespected with no follow-up consequences. Its the kind of story where we will probably never know what really happened one way or the other.

The beauty of the Sileo incident is that there were repercussions. You should be able to take a source of the radio or media outlet outside the major newspapers so long as you can quote a source. To come on here and say, I have an undisclosed contact who said…… That’s poor. I see no harm in quoting Sileo if he reprsents it as fact. His job was on the line.

Great point on Sileo, and your right, that may not have been a good example to use...

however I just referred to the basics of not having a confirmed story.

…and your right..nothing Morris has said proves nothing happened. We dont know..but so far he has been very honest with the public and press, almost to a fault to be honest.

My opinion on the whole thing, is their relationship, as we like to point out, that hes ‘one of the guys’ , involves cussing and such, and they probably were going at it in their own way….non confrontational, but to an outsider, it probably seemed as if it were confrontational.

I don't think that Raheem Morris is doing a very good job this year, and people take my defending him as if I do....

I just like to try to separate the good points against him away from the frivolous ones. It the man is going to be let go, either now or next year, or whenever, let him be removed for something substantial that he did or did not do. I think he WILL be a great coach for the Bucs, maybe as soon as next year. Everyone says he should have been given a DC job for a year first. Well ok, guess what, he now has one year of head coaching experience under his belt. So I hope everyone welcomes the Bucs new HC Raheem Morris in 2010 who has one year of Head Coaching experience!

I don't disagree

And its a long season. I’m sure all teams have locker room disgreements betweenplayers, coaches, and players and coaches. When the media goes get a sniffing of them, they generallyare blown out of proportion, especially on a winless team. Sensationalism sells. Do we all get along with everyone we work with on a daily basis?

Much like TO, Talib will always be under the microscope because of his past transgressions. With Talib, its probably even more justified. TO has very publicly been an awful teammate in the past, but he has always stayed out of legal trouble. Talib has the legal issues, and examples of being a bad teammate. The PR War will be an uphill battle for the young man for a long time. A classic case of “You Reap What You Sow”

I'm going to choose my words very carefully here and refer to a comment I posted in another thread on this.
Morris did say players missed curfew. That part is true He also said He and Talib swore, but that’s just part of their lingo. But to a casual observer who doesn’t understand the rapport, it seemed as if Talib was swearing at Morris. The report was true and correct on every avenue.

This is a classic example of something that is probably handled “in-house” that we won’t ever hear the conclusion of. Players miss curfew all the time (not just Bucs players). What made it a bigger story was who it was. Talib has already been in the headlines for (allegedly) hitting the cab driver, missing meetings last year, being late, and the rookie symposium fight. If there is one player who needs to follow the team rules exactly, it’s him.

Any time a team is losing, the bad press grows. This type of incident just lends credence to those who think the Bucs aren’t run poorly. If we were 7-0 and this happened, it probably doesn’t make any waves in the media.

It's unfortunate but misery sells. Find the "down on their luck" team/player and every story becomes huge

Same with teams that are doing well. When the Patriots were 15-0 and going against the Giants, we heard everything about them (the Pats). Their work routine, how Tom Brady styled his hair and even got stories on Bellicheck and his sweatshirt. Find the highest and lowest teams and every story is overmagnified. Thanks 21st century media.

Right, Randy Moss suddenly is a great teammate

The same Moss who critics said would be cut in the preseason.

Well...

not even that much. When Brooks was around (I hate to invoke this, but still) we didn’t hear about guys doing stuff they shouldn’t be. After about 2002, Derrick was keeping those guys in line, and now we don’t have him, and we hear about so-and-so did this, so-and-so got arrested for DUI, so-and-so beat up a teammate. It wouldn’t really be so bad if Derrick was still around, I’d bet money on that. We went 4-12 in 2006 but we weren’t hearing of misbehavior every other week.

Talib beat up Boyd when Brooks was around

The police blotter had plenty of action when Brooks was around. DB is an amazing leader but this is more a product of a winless record. The 2007 Bucs had 39 points on profootballtalk.com’s turd watch.. The fifth worst scoring of any team. #55 can only do so much. These are grown men. See rules below:

Everyone in the organization is eligible. Players, coaches, owners, front-office employees, etc. If the person works for the team and is arrested, the points will be assigned. The term “players” includes players on the roster, the practice squad, and any of the various “reserve” lists (with the exception of “reserve-retired”). The scoring system is simple. Seven points for a felony arrest. Three points for a misdemeanor arrest. One point for a conviction. If there are multiple charges, the points will stack, too.

For the purposes of the Turd Watch scoring, a conviction includes a guilty plea, a plea of no contest, and the entry into a diversion program

This

is awesome. I’ve got to check that out. Do they keep a running tally throughout the season or just do the ranking at the end of year?

Man I will never forget the day when they changed them, its like part of my football life dissappeared. This game will bring tears to my eyes, I hope that doesn’t sound to childish, they just ment so much to me, it just sucks that they are bringing them back with a season were having. Sorry for going off the subject guys.

Yeah, I didn't realize they were practicing in the new/old helmets.

I’m for sure taking my camera to the game, will post some pics.

I think with the amount of merchandise they are selling, in an 0-7 year, and the support ..

(the whole stadium will probably be Orange), I wouldnt be surprised to see one home game or one game a year.
