Bucs sign former college star Rudy Carpenter
Look at this more of an emergency option since Leftwich has been out.
Rudy is a rookie who was one of the most efficent PAC-10 Passers of all time and holds the Pac-10 record for most efficient season from a QB. That's good company (Palmer, Leinart, Rodgers, Olsen, B. Huard, etc). He was signed from the Cowboys practice squad.

I deleted somebody's comment
by accident. I was trying to update the fanshot and it got all messed up. Would still love to hear your comments.

Interesting manuever, though with Freeman as our #1 and JJ a somewhat decent #2
thought the play would be more a more established guy. Another young’un doesn’t add up.

No it doesn't....
but it could be a desperation pull in case something terrible happens to Freeman this year. They will need to continue to build the future, and honestly, Rudy doesn’t seem like a bad candidate if something bad (knee, shoulder) happened.
Honestly, though this move will probably never come in play and I would be surprised to see Carpenter make it through the rest of the season on the roster.

If we signed him from practice squad he has to either stay on active roster for 2 weeks or get paid for two weeks (I forget which, but thought it was be on roster)
I’d like them to bring in someone to help with Freeman. Right now, he and JJ have no one to learn from or get any advice from. No offense to Morris, but he’s young and doesn’t have a lot of experience with QB’s.

The only people I could think of that would be available are
Brooks Bollinger
Jeff Garcia
Trent Green – (May be a hard sell, plus he isn’t cleared to play, but he would be a coach)

Offseason
Workouts with Current Star QB’s would be awesome especially Brees and Mcnabb.

I can totally
See us trying to shop JJ to pick up a 4th or 5th round pick….I watched Rudy play in college a lot (I’m in Cali…GO PAC 10!) And i think he has a strong arm, and being on the bench for a good 4 or 5 years he could be the next Matt Cassel or Matt Schaub…..

Wouldn't disagree.

I think so too... The cassel Shaub comment
I’d like to see us run the ball more like we tried to on NO. Also no more Bates as DC?
Bucs: Raheem will become relevant when his actions speak louder than his words. Gators: National Champions! Magic: Stop getting injured!

Leftwich has been placed on IR
and we released that corner we picked off the Cowboys practice squad to make room for the Nunn kid they mentioned in the article.
