On This Day Recap- 11/10/1996
We talked about this last week, what really turned around the Bucs under Dungy. This game was the second win of the season, and this game started the winning streak. While most consider that the win over San Diego was the start of it all because it ended a terrible streak of poor performances on the west coast. I tend to agree, but it all started here the week before, when Cole Ford missed a FG that would have won it for the Raiders in regulation.
The Bucs had held the last several teams to under or at 13 points, so the signs were there for a turn around. As I said, this 2009 team is not quite there defensively, we dont have all the pieces like that '96 team did.
But one way or another, the change started, On this day.

I wasn't at that game.
I was in South Florida at the time, had gone completely insane that weekend just sitting at home with nothing to do. The game wasn’t televised, and that morning for some crazy reason I just hopped into the car and drove to Key West.
It was totally spur of the moment. Down I-95 til it merged with US 1. The narrow bridges. Just kept driving. Saw the ocean and the bay. That Atlantic Ocean was so blue, it stuck in my mind, I’d never seen as beautiful a body of water as that (the bay on the other hand was a brackish green). Took me 5 hours to drive to Key West. And when I got there I had no idea where to go. So I gassed up and drove back. During the drive back I got snippets of the game on terrible AM radio reception… and I recalled at the time that the victory was taken by the commentators as a sign the Bucs were getting good.

Nice recapping of "where you were" ...
I wish more people would do that on these features… Thanks!
Will the NY Jets please stop wearing those Titans uniforms. For a team that was only around for one year, Ive seen those uniforms 5 times already!
