ON THIS DAY RECAP- 10/22/2006- Philly Cheesesteaks melting on Matt Bryant Day

                          102206_barber22_medium                                                                  102206_bidwell41_medium

Oh yeah, Happy Matt Bryant Day everyone. Or was that only a one year thing? Because if it isn't, Id say he is celebrating somewhere in Orlando that his wish came true, and that the Bucs are unable to kick a FG.

Star-divide

Three years ago it wasn't much of a different story:  Still a poor team putting on Pewter uniforms with not much of a chance for victory. The team already scored its miracle of the year the week before when Michael Clayton scored what would be the first of two touchdowns scored in 4 seasons; all with under 2:00 left to win the game. Bengals Kicker Missed a 60+ yard attempt with time expiring for a little football foreshadowing. Buc hero Ronde Barber does his best 2002 impersonation and returns 2 Donovan McNabb Pick 6 passes, but the real story was the 5 missed tackes that started with Derrick Brooks and ended with a sea of bodies laying on the Ray Jay turf. But the Eagles left enough time on the clock for a good return, a first down, and , well thats it! The ball was kicked from the Bucs end of the field. Matt Bryant Became Bucs Radioman Gene Deckerhoff's hero, and the Mayor made it Matt Bryant Day for everyone to celebrate, On This Day.

One of the better sports moments I've seen

Was at the game, and while it wasnt a playoff win (still havent seen a Bucs playoff win in person) it was a damn cool moment to be there for.

Although, my most recent favorite Bucs game was against Atlanta, right around Christmas in 2006 or 2007 (I think). The overtime game where we fumbled the kickoff, but blocked the field goal. That was the loudest I’ve heard the stadium.

That was 2005, and is sure to be on here!

If anyone can get production out of Gaines Adams, it will be Rod Marinelli. Good Luck Gaines and thank you Bucs for restoring my confidence that there is accountability.

Game I will never forget was.....

The catch that never was against the Rams in the NFC championship, I think it was Bert Emmanual. We got robbed. I believe thats when they changed the rule to where now its a catch. Thanks NFL for nothing! I

Worst BS call, was 2003 Colts Bucs MNF LEAPING on Rice.

Cap going away!

I was listening on the radio yesterday and they mentioned that the nfl is getting red of the cap. wow! looks like baseball is hitting the nfl. I will be worried about Dallas, NY, and Wash. since they are already big spenders.

From what I understand, there will be a lot of complicated things about to happen,

including 2011 where playoff teams will not be allowed to get free agents unless they lose one first…

All of this is pending a new contract with the union.
As someone who has been a football fan through both strikes of 82 and 87, they are not fun.

I hope in this day and age they can work out their differences.

The cap looks like it will be gone next year, but I can't imagine a scenario where a new labor agreement and CBA isn't struck before a strike

That might be the optimist in me talking, but you can’t afford a strike. Reading the CBA now does set up some interesting questions in the future.

I tend to agree with you...

That a strike is unlikely, but there were times when it seems just as unlikely back then too.
