Buccaneers WR Stroughter Named NFC Special Teams Player Of The Week

Player of the Week!

The National Football League today announced that Tampa Bay Buccaneers rookie WR Sammie Stroughter was named NFC Special Teams Player of the Week for Week 6.

Stroughter earned Special Teams Player of the Week honors after becoming just the third player in franchise history to return a kickoff for a touchdown with his 97-yard kickoff return for a touchdown, tying the longest in team history. The touchdown return came late in the third quarter after Stroughter replaced an injured Clifton Smith, who last season recorded a 97-yard kickoff return for a touchdown at Kansas City (11/2/08). Stroughter totaled three kickoff returns for 142 yards and the touchdown against Carolina.

This marks the 24^th time in team history, and the first this season, that a Buccaneer has been named NFC Special Teams Player of the Week.

Use Advanced Statistics instead of the basic NFL Stat line.

Last year AJ was the top DYAR WR. This year he isn’t even in the discussion at 48th.

I think Stroughter will be a huge playmaker for years to come.

Did anyone here look at his Oregon St. film clips? When we drafted him I went online to check him out. WOW, he looked like the best pick in the draft as long as he is mentally healthy. Even the depression looked like it could be from temporary circumstances. He had unbelievable moves in those clips.
