Still think the Glazers are cheap?
The move to dump Gaines Adams for a second rounder is being met with high marks from most Bucs fans. The back end of it is the acceleration of bonus money. Per Pewter Report and PFT, the move costs the Bucs $11MM in cap room this year and an additional $4MM next year.
Without all the extra room this year, this move may not be possible. Now, I don't think this was the plan from day one, but it's a good example as to why spending every single penny under the cap isn't a bright idea. With the free room, it allowed Dominik to make the move.
Perhaps there is more in store.

While it costs them short term cap room it will save them actual cash in the end.
I do think they got good value in terms of picks in return though.

Most posts like these come from 'fans' who will be posting...
" Yes… GO BUCS" when they go 11-5 again.
Oh well, as long as you get a Window seat on the wagon….
If anyone can get production out of Gaines Adams, it will be Rod Marinelli. Good Luck Gaines and thank you Bucs for restoring my confidence that there is accountability.

This move
saves the Bucs actual cash in the future and costs them “cap space” this year…and somehow that makes them not cheap? Sorry, wrong.

We spend the cap limit this year and we can't make this trade
They take an $11MM hit now, which is bonus money that has been paid. But here’s the scoop. Everyone likes to point that we are/were $30MM under the cap. “Cheap bastards” or “spend money” is what has been written by just about everyone. Well now, its approx $19MM under cap. Sounds different. Don’t think people would be complaining about being cheap had this happened earlier.

Not only that, but that number will be adjusted further at the end of the year. It could end up being 15Million.
But again, show me (anyone) where its proven that teams that spend more of their cap room results in winning.
Start with the Redskins.
