With game 5 coming up, a look at some Top 5's.....

Some Top 5 things from our 5th game of the season, at the Linc in Philadelphia!

5 BEST PLAYERS ON THE FIELD FOR THE BUCS-

  • The new 2009 Cadillac Williams looks BETTER than the 2005 model!
  • Tanard Jackson returns to help out at safety. Is he just sticking his thumb in the dyke?
  • Chris Hovan is becoming a vocal leader on the defense.
  • Geno Hayes and Quincy Black are quickly catching up to Barrett Ruud. Linebackers are becoming best unit on the team.
  • Ronde Barber's body is in a state of temporal flux. His body is in his 30's, while Barber's legs are in his 20s.

5 PLAYERS STRUGGLING TO KEEP THEIR JOBS BASED ON PERFORMANCE-

  • Gaines Adams received a stay of execution from the govonor last week, but one quarter does not a season make. He may not get a chance this week with an injury bug.
  • After week one, Michael Clayton had Raheem Morris and Steve Duemig daring anyone to call and ask why the Bucs resigned him. Both signed up for unlisted numbers this week.
  • Kellen Winslow has 5 catches for 35 yards over the last two games. Young Quarterbacks best friend my BEEP!
  • Jeremy Trueblood is supposed to be part of the strongest unit on the Bucs. Instead he is becoming the weakest link with 4 false starts in 4 games. This after leading the Bucs in penalties last year.
  • Josh Johnson may not exactly deserve to be on this list as he only has one start for the team, but this team has already got a QB that it expects to have to deal with growing pains for. Johnson looked sharp on his first pass, but looked every bit the roll of the young first start QB afterwards. Going against the Eagles defense will not be J.J.s fault, but a very poor outing could bring Leftwich back up to 1 on the depth chart; at least until Faine returns and/or the bye week when we could see Josh Freeman.                                                                                  more after the jump...

Star-divide

5 WAYS THE BUCS CAN WIN THIS SUNDAY-
  • Eagles veterans get 2002 NFC Championship flashbacks and drive to the Veterans Stadium location instead of the Linc.
  • Matt Bryant releases the Matt Bryant Day Curse and new kicker Shane Andrus makes all his kicks.
  • Josh Johnson is able to find K2 and Jeremy Stevens 7-10 yards downfield consistantly.
  • Our fully restored 2005 Cadillac Williams is featured by Morris in the run & short passing game.
  • Bucs defense continues to show improvement and faith buying into Jim Bates' system.

5 REASONS TO WATCH THE ENTIRE GAME-

  • Your a Bucs fan, die hard, and you dont miss a single game.
  • Your a glutton for punishment.
  • You were the one screaming for J.J. to start this preseason, and here he is.
  • You enjoy watching the 2 guys who make the most money on the team get overpaid to not do their job.
  • Your part of the 10% that does NOT root for the underdog, and will scream "NO MERCY" in the 4th Quarter.
and last but not least...

5 THINGS WERE TIRED OF HEARING FROM THE FOX BROADCASTING TEAM
  • How the Bucs don't have Derrick Brooks on the team anymore.
  • The fact that fantasy football players pick every opponent vs the Bucs to win.
  • Our 28th or 31st rankings in either catagory.
  • That Monte Kiffin isnt on the team anymore.    And finally...
  • Anything from Tony Siragusa!

Derrick Brooks is the only HOF on that list. Period.

Warrick Dunn is a big maybe, and his charity work would really help him on that. Otherwise he is just another 10,000 yard back, there are plenty of them out of the HOF.
Hillard, Galloway HOF? come on now…

and do you really want those guys starting one more year? great…what do we do NEXT year? same thing were doing this year! You have to do it man, you have to rebuild…I dont care who you are, what city your in, you have to rebuild when you get old. Remember, those guys were part of that 4 game collapse too!

I like lists

I like lists and this was great. Here’s my five:
The Five Worst Decisions of the Raheem Morris Regime, so far:
1. Signing and naming as a starter Byron Leftwich.
2. Signing Mike Nugent.
3. Firing an offensive coordinator 11 days before the start of the regular season and still having a terrible offense.
4. The 2-2-1. Uh, Clifton Smith in at crunch time? Really? He’s a great returner, but has never done a thing at RB.
5. Drafting a QB in the first round and burying him on the depth chart so he gets neither practice reps nor game reps and then expecting him to develop.
What did I miss?

Thats funny

But every one of those has been a huge debate on if that was Morris fault or not. expect some debating.

Head Coach

Ultimate decision making authority lies with the coach. Yes, they were highly debated, but it appears he’s come down on the wrong side each and every time.

Coaching the QB Position

I read a lot of Mike Lombardi at the National Football Post, and I’m usually very impressed. The quality of his Diner Morning News has decreased because he has so many network jobs now, but I still read him. At any rate, he often quotes Bill Walsh, who he worked for and greatly respected, as saying “the quarterback position is the hardest to coach and there are very few coaches who can coach it properly.” That’s a paraphrase. At any rate, I’ve got to agree. Who can really judge what a good quarterback will be? Certainly the Giants, Steelers, and Chargers knew how to draft good ones. The Bengals went through a lot of busts with early first round qb picks (Klingler and Akili Smith) before finding Palmer, and even he’s grossly overrated. Here a few more examples:
1. In the 2007 season, Charlie Frye “won” the quarterback battle, was benched after one half, traded after the game, and the guy who lost the competition went on to win 10 games.
2. Kurt Warner was a career bench warmer until Trent Green blew out his knee. How come the coach couldn’t see in practice that Warner was a Super Bowl winner?
3. Tom Brady started the 2002 season on the bench. He took over after game 2 and led the team to a Super Bowl. How come the coaches couldn’t see in practice that he was better than Bledsoe?
4. Shaun Hill and Kyle Orton are considered poor quarterbacks and yet they have great winning records. When they win, everyone else gets credit. When Rothlisberger wins leading his team to 13 points, he’s a winner. I don’t understand this double standard.
Overall, the QB position is so subjective, apparently impossible to actually judge in practice. I wasn’t a fan of Leftwich. And who knows with JJ? Drew Brees took four years to actually turn into a decent quarterback and now he’s awesome. Is Josh Freeman our future? I have no idea, it actually is all a crapshoot. Our five year no complaints rule after winning a Super Bowl is over. I hope we get lucky with one of these guys, or it is going to be a long decade.

I am not sure

I understand the point of this comment having to deal with the Buc’s? We need Mike Lombardi to help us find a QB?

Lombardi's Point

The point was that Bill Walsh, the ultimate QB guru, said very few coaches can pick or teach the QB position. Knowing that, even though I’ve criticized Morris’ handling of the competition and development of Freeman, I think it is a crapshoot with our QB future. Lombardi was the one who wrote about Walsh’s comments. In other words, the QB is so important, and yet most coaches fall into those decisions. I hope we fell into a good one.

Nice comment Bucsfandave...

good examples there…and we can go a little further right here in our own back yard…

Earnest Graham was named Mr. August for goodness sakes! Gruden’s DAD saw he was starting material.
Barrett Ruud; I remember when Quarles was let go everyone said “If Ruud were any good, he would have started over an often injured Quarles”!

Nice job..hope to see you in the Fanpost section next week for the contest ( will be announced tonight at midnight)
