May the NFL Draft Rumors and Speculation begin...
Tonight is College Football's holy grail. Don't miss the action. Gators vs Sooners 8pm est on Fox.... Go Gators (I can't believe I just said that). Question? Do you think Tebow being left handed stops Gruden from even contemplating the idea of bringing him aboard should he elect to enter the draft after beating the Sooners? Keep an eye on Percy Harvin as well, kid can play (when he's not injured)...

"If Sam Bradford [Oklahoma] declares (for the NFL Draft), he takes a nose dive a la Brady Quinn/Aaron Rodgers." - New Era Scouting's Luke Paul Chandler
If the Heisman Trophy winner were to drop ala Quinn-Rodgers would you endorse the Tampa Bay Buccaneers picking him up with the 19th pick in April's NFL Draft?
"Tim Tebow (Florida) will be a quarterback in the NFL." - New Era Scouting's Luke Paul Chandler
Tim Tebow would look pretty good in Miami's wildcat offense.
As the Bull Gator alluded to in another thread, it would be a tough pill to swallow if a feisty team like the Atlanta Falcons were able to scoop him up.
Keep in mind neither player has declared for the NFL Draft. Both players will face off in College Football's FedEx BCS National Championship Game on Thursday at 8:00pm Est on Fox when (#1) Oklahoma faces off against (#2) Florida.

No thank you...
…I could be wrong on this one (I’ve definitely been wrong before), but I don’t want Bradford. I really can’t believe he is getting serious talk as a top 5 (and possibly even #1 overall) pick. Look, the guy is a GREAT college QB. But so was Josh Huepel and so was Jason White. In my eyes, Bradford hasn’t done anything different for me to say "wow, this guy is going to excel in the NFL."

So what are..
The qualities or individuals you see that would make into a good pro?
I remember seeing Matt Ryan last year in his bowl game and coming away thinking that someone is going to be dissapointed drafting this guy.

Being that I'm not a scout...
…I really can only guess. But I will say I’m completely with you on Ryan as well. I thought to myself “this guy is supposed to be a top pick, really???” But look at him now. Maybe the same thing will happen with Ryan. But if I was picking right now between Bradford and Stafford, I would take Stafford. I’ve been very critical of Stafford and his TD/INT ration scares me a little, but he has a very impressive arm. To me, he looks more like what the NFL looks for than Bradford does. Of course the NFL also drooled over Tim Couch and David Carr, so sometimes the guy with the prototypical arm might not make it. Just saying in my mind, I’m not sure Bradford’s all that.

Running a pro style offense
and being able to be a pocket passer.
Being a noles fan … there are two QB’s out of the ACC that I knew would be good when they hit the NFL … Philip Rivers and Matt Ryan.
They were just that good in college.

I agree with you about Ryan and Rivers.
I have to say Tebow has EVERY reason to fail as a quarterback in the NFL. He doesn’t have the skills people are looking for. HOWEVER, it wouldn’t surprise me for a minute if he shocks us all. The guy has the grits and dedication to develop and work on skills that people want, hes a natural leader and has a passion for the position. Thats why I wouldn’t mind if Tampa spent a 3rd round pick on him as a flyer. Even if he fails, Tampa will have a great guy in the community.

ESPN has us...
drafting Jeremy Maclin, a WR from Missouri in the first round, any comments?

I like him...
…but I’m iffy about receivers in the first round. I’ve always felt you need to use your first pick for the most important positions…quarterback, offensive line, defensive line, cornerback. There are obviously some great receivers out there that went in the first round, but they need someone to get them the ball. Given that we just took a cornerback last year (who looks like he will be a franchise type player) and the offensive line appears to be young and improving, I’d lean toward defensive line and what New Era Scouting actually picked. Michael Johnson, DE, Georgia Tech. Since Simeon Rice’s play began to decline, we’ve lacked consistent pressure on the QB. Gaines Adams still has flashes, but he needs consistent play on the other side to help free him up.
BUT, I wouldn’t be disappointed if we ended up with Maclin. I think Maclin is exactly what the Bucs “hoped” they could get in Dexter Jackson. Problem was Jackson was an enormous question mark, well Maclin has done a lot to prove his versatility.

i dont see the Bucs
risking that #1 pick on a WR, i think they’ll go for more proven talent. Think DLine (DT, DE), possibly a Tackle or even a RB…. At this point, free agency presents a ton of upgrades that could change the Bucs needs in the draft drastically…

I think they should get Noshawn Moreno from GA
We need a HB to shore up the running game with our O line maturing a running game will allow for a mediocre passing game …
That being said they need to draft a WR or another CB in the 2nd Rd.

i hear the cry for a RB
but will Gruden use him even if he had him? We could have Adrian Peterson and Gruden still wouldn’t use him correctly. After three runs of 2-3 yards, Gruden would abandon it….
A RB wouldnt hurt although i dont rank it as highly for the Bucs draft needs as others do. It’s not like Earnest Graham was a hack and suffered a severe injury. He will be good to go, as will Caddy (hopefully). And Warrick Dunn was great when he didnt have to carry the load. Plus we have Clifton Smith as well, who if he can hold on to the ball, he would be a nice asset….
Again though, it falls on Gruden to utilize these guys correctly

Maybe good quality DT in 2nd RD would work too
I am not too sold on Hovan or Haye playing there.

One of them is fine
but we do need more of an anchor. I would tend to lean toward Hovan.
