I watch a lot more college football than I do NFL football, but I have to ask, do you think McCoy will really be that good of a pro? Not necessarily you specifically Jerry. The question is open to anyone really. Mostly because I have my doubts.

i don't watch the guy enough

to say yay or nay, to be honest. I like his heart though and that’s one of the main reasons (as a Noles fan) I’m an advocate in the Bucs bringing in Tim Tebow. There’s a lot to be said about heart, character, and a guy who’s willing to give his all….

Being that you’re a Gator fan, what do you think of Tebow’s chances as a Pro? Are you of the Kiper opinion in that you think the kid has to change positions to excel or even warrant a look in the Pros?

I hope the kid throws for 400 yards on the Sooners defense…

Here's my quick take on Tebow as a QB in the pros...

I think he should at least get a shot. Yes, he doesn’t have the ideal throwing motion, but like you said he has great character and has shown many times he has a strong enough arm. Will he be successful as a QB in the NFL? I have my doubts like anyone else. But I think he should at least be given a shot. To not give him at least a chance is ridiculous. We’re not talking about Eric Crouch’s arm here. Tebow is a completely different player. I think he could be very successful as a backup QB who comes into to run the wildcat from time to time. Everyday starter? Who knows. But I’m all for him getting that shot. For Kiper to say he’s Frank Wychek again…well, I think that’s crazy talk.

I don’t see the harm in a team like the Bucs taking him in the like the 3rd round and seeing what he can do. Worst case scenario you get a football player who can make plays one way or another. Whether that’s being the guy to take every snap is up for debate, but this kid is an athlete and will bring at least something to the team that takes a chance on him.

He did sort of call Kiper out and flat out asked him “okay, you don’t think I can be a QB in the NFL, tell me why not.” Mr. Hair Gel balked and didn’t really answer the question. Again, I don’t think we’re looking at a guy that will be the next Peyton Manning, but even Kiper isn’t giving Tebow himself the full explanation of why he can’t be a QB. All he said was that he thought he’d be a good h-back.

People talk about Tebow's

vision and I personally saw him make all of his reads and make a Seminole defense look foolish (insert joke here, i know, i know) on a throw across the field in the rain to his Tight End for a Touchdown. I don’t get where folks say he can’t be a good Quarterback. He doesnt have the passing yards, because he doesnt have to win with his arm like these other kids.

If anything he would make a nice option in the backfield for short yardage situation, as the defense would have to respect his arm, yet expect a run….

Here's the thing that scares me about Tebow...

…say a team like Atlanta picks him up. Well now they’ve got Ryan and Turner for the forseeable future. Then they get Tebow and suddenly on 2nd or 3rd and short, the Bucs’ D is staring down Tebow and Turner out of the wildcat. It’s just another dimension teams will have to worry about. That’s where I think Tebow can be successful. For a team where he doesn’t have the be the #1 guy right away…if ever. He can basically do what he did in 2006 for the Gators and be that change of pace guy.

i think he could excel

as the guy in the pros though. He’s got the Gators in another National Title game…. Time will tell. Do you think he declares or returns?

I'll copy exactly what I just said in another thread...

I’m doubtful he leaves. So many people are saying he won’t play QB in the NFL. Whether he does or not is a different story, but if he stays for his senior year, he gets a definite chance at playing his desired position for at least one more year. He seems to love being a Gator and love his team. I think he sticks around for his final year.

If he stays

and the Gators win the Championship, do you foresee a scenario in which Urban Meyer changes his offense to showcase Tim Tebow’s passing skills a bit more or do you think Tebow is what he is regardless of the throwing opportunities he’s presented.

As is, I think he would be a good fit for Gruden’s offense, as he has the arm, mobility, and smarts to handle Gruden’s offense…

There’s only been two Gators players in my life that I actually admired, make that three, Emmitt Smith, Danny Wuerffeul, and Rex Grossman. Two of those guys had horrendous Pro Careers. So I guess my resume doesnt speak well for Tebow’s Pro future, ha

Oh and as for McCoy...

…I like him…a lot. The kid is hard not to like. He loves playing the game, seems like he has his head on straight, and has turned into a great QB. I’m not 100% sure I see him being a great success in the pros either, but I sure had fun watching him this year. Definitely would’ve loved to see UF be able to play Texas in a bowl. I don’t know how Thursday will turn out, but Gators vs. Longhorns would’ve been one hell of a game.

That Cosby kid

would look good in a Bucs uni too, that’s if Gruden utilized him correctly. Let me stop

Agreed.

It’s hard to get excited about players when we don’t know if one year they’ll get 30 plays a game and the next they’ll get 5. Ugh. The life of a sports fan!
