Why be a Buccaneers fan?

My family and I just moved over from England a few months ago. lately, my friends have all been talking about american football and its all they talk about. They are now telling me that i need a team. We live in Boise, so there is no local team for me to root for and there are obviously no english players for me to root for. Just wondering If I should become a fan of the Buccaneers. None of my friends like the bucs, they are more into the chargers, colts, or cowboys. If you guys could tell me why I should be a fan of your team, that would be great. I need something.

PS- if you want a real football team, GO CHELSEA!

The Buccaneers are a hard sale

If you like pain and rare occurrences of pleasure the Bucs are your franchise. Know that they have always been defensive minded (for the most part) and that they have always been inept on offense.

The bad news is the Defensive Master mind in Monte Kiffin is leaving this off-season for College Football, so it may be that the Bucs no longer have that strong defense that has characterized their franchise for the past 15 years.

Couple that with an ineffective offense and you have a franchise that could lack an identity. The good news is the Franchise has only been around since ’76, that its yet to truly field a Franchise Quarterback, so that day is coming (one would hope), and the owners have spent money in the past to make their team competitive…

Being that you live in Boise, the Bucs are rarely featured on Nationally Broadcast television, so you may have a tough time following them, though that’s where this site would help fill that void.

I’m sure other folks who frequent the site will give you more insight into why you should be a Bucs fan. Just know that the team is tough to follow (entertainment wise), but we cling to this franchise because we were either force fed them growing up (and have grown to love their style or lack there of, of play), we love defensive minded football, or we cling to the idea that this team will eventually field a well balanced football team.

If you like Chelsea...

Then you root for Satan. So really, the Buccaneer mascot being rapacious, lawless savages should be right up your alley.

JScott summed up the team pretty well, so here are some more juvenile reasons:

We have a pirate ship. It has fake cannons. They fire 6 shots on Buccaneer Touchdowns and it sounds like the world is going to explode. It’ll give you goosebumps for a week when you first see it. It’s awesome. Too bad our offense can’t make those cannons fire more.

Oh… we also have some pretty team cool colors and the hottest NFL Cheerleaders around.

Happy team hunting.

Cannons... fire them.
