Bucs News: Michael Clayton to return, Bucs sign a Free Agent, New G.M. hospitalized
The Bucs were ultra busy this weekend so why would this week be any different?
The Bucs have resigned WR Paris Warren to a one year deal. The Bucs have also expressed interest in resigning WR's Antonio Bryant and Michael Clayton.
Antonio Bryant is a no brainer. Anything more than three years and I would be a bit leery. Michael Clayton though? I've dogged this guy for the past several years (so has every other Bucs fan). He carries himself like a top flight Wide Receiver, but he plays more like a undersized tight end who though he can block well, he rarely catches the ball consistently. Part of me wonders what he would be like in a system that lifts you up as a player, but then i see all of those drops and think, what would it matter?
Michael Clayton stats from '08
Guess what G.M. Mark Dominik was doing the day before all hell broke lose? He was actually in the hospital recovering from having his appendix removed. I assume hearing word that he was going to become the team's next G.M. didnt hurt the healing process. Did I mention former Bucs QB Chris Simms is a free agent? Spleen-Appendix, the removal is what matters.
Continuing the Dominik discussion, he was recently asked several questions while arriving in Mobile Alabama for this weekend's Senior Bowl. One of which was: Is hiring an offensive and defensive coordinator a priority? I think just about all of us can answer that one for Mark... Click here to catch the other questions/answers. Nothing was really revealed other than he and Coach Morris are going to take their time and are not seeking a specific coach for a specific system, they want everyone to express their own philosophies on how to do things.
For those that were curious, the Glazers are not interested in selling the Buccaneers.

My feelings toward Clayton are...
1. He does carry himself a little high for a guy that has been a shell of his rookie self. But he’s a professionally football player. I actually expect these guys to be cocky and think that much of themselves. I know I would.
2. I think he should be brought back because we still see flashes from him and if used correctly, I still think he could be a good #2 in this league. I do agree that a lot of it had to do with him getting the dropsies, but it also had to do with little injuries over the years, and the always questionable Gruden. He is one hell of a blocker and I think he could do some good things in a different offensive system.
3. I don’t want to entirely retire my jersey just yet!
