Head Coach Vacancy up for grabs, who should the Bucs pursue
The ink isnt entirely dry on the dismissal papers of Head Coach Jon Gruden and General Manager Bruce Allen, but it's the weekend and so you might as well think about it. Who should the Bucs replace Gruden with?

Buccaneers WR's react to the news of Head Coach Jon Gruden getting fired:
WR Antonio Bryant's take:
"I’m very surprised, you know I felt very comfortable, especially in the environment," Bryant said. "It’s a family atmosphere and everybody got along well, and it’s shocking, but that’s the nature of the business. I feel a sense of loyalty to anything that is Buccaneer. Jon Gruden was definitely a Buccaneer, he gave his all in everything. He was very devoted and a passionate guy about the game. I’m still a Buccaneer until March 1st and just the opportunity that he gave me, the organization, the ownership and the Glazers, I trust their decision in knowing that they feel they made the decision to do the right thing." - per the Bucs Beat
Free Agent to be, Michael Clayton's thoughts on the firing:
"How do you build a championship team with all the inconsistency? You have to do it the right way. I've always been a person who feels like you reap what you sow. You have to treat people fairly. It's about showing more confidence in your players. He was kind of a turncoat. He'd tell you one thing and then do something else." - Bucs Beat
Michael Clayton's quotes say it all right there. Gruden simply mishandled his players and allowed Bruce Allen to bring in mediocre talent and like Clayton said, you reap what you sow. You gotta think Clayton is referencing the instance this past season where Gruden told him he was going to play, Clayton told reporters, and then Gruden called Mike out about it. There's probably dozens of situations that occurred like that over the past seven years. Things like that get overlooked when you win... Good luck Gruden, it wasnt always fun, but you certainly kept it interesting.

Jason Garrett
should be more than considered for this position. Even though Mr. Cowboy should look past Wade Philips and turn to Garrett, he’s not going too. Jason Garrett is a wonderful talent and has done wonders for a fumbling no draft QB.
He can develop talent and he knows how to run an offense.

If you could get Raheem to stick around
and run the defense, the Bucs could have something. I’m definitely thinking the Bucs should go young and forget the retreads.

Although
he had more offensive talent this past year and underproduced. Does that lay on his shoulders or Wades? IMO, HIS.

throwing T.O. into that
equation almost dispels it completely as that guy disrupts every team he’s been a part of. With that said, Garrett doesnt come without warts… The Cowboys have struggled as much as the Bucs have the past several years. What he’s done with Romo is to be commended though

Is it?
I feel like Romo under performs in big games, and this has to come back to coaching at some point. He completely abandoned his run game, didn’t use his very deep receiving core….

in the same hand
he Coached Brad Johnson to a win over the Bucs… Also, would Romo be the QB he is today without Garrett? I would say Romo has over performed for his talent. I also think Garrett’s offensive line broke down over the course of the season as well.

hmmm...
Johnson definitely did not ‘win’ that game. Their defense did.
I hear you though, I just don’t know if I would be enthused about him being the head coach of TB. I also think it’s just a lot of drama that would be unwelcomed there.

Johnson definitely had a hand in it
The Bucs were set to smack around the ’Boys and that didnt happen, in large part to Brad Johnson avoiding mistakes and giving the game away…
I hear you on the drama tip, essentially since we’d be stealing him from Big D. I would like to see this team get some HUGE offensive help though. Gruden was advertised as such, but never delivered his offensive genius..

So, if Shanny is hired, does that mean Griese is the QB?

Hopefully he brings Jay Cutler with him…. What are you R.J.? The bearer of bad news??

Yes.
Sources already are telling ESPN’s John Clayton that former New Orleans defensive coordinator Gary Gibbs already has agreed to a job with the Bucs, most likely as an assistant head coach.

...confusing?
A) I guess that means he would be replacing Morris as the DC? B)When was the last time NO had a good defense? They have been TERRIBLE.
Also, what went on during the press conference? Anything noteworthy?

I like the youth
of Raheem, his rapore (spelling?) with the players, His defensive training (Kiffin), and the timing of a watered down coaching pool. Shanahan maybe…..
He has my vote all the way.
I think the bigger question is what he does with the offensive staff. He needs good minds in there.

Coach Jags
from Boston College is going to get an NFL gig sooner or later I think as well. He want’s it, he can coach, and was intereviewed for the Jets job, for what its worth.

That would be nice.
The guy can definitely coach. Doubt it would happen though. I don’t think Jags wants to be a coord again.

Hopefully the new GM
will give Bryant a new contract or throw that tag on him. “I’ll still be a Buccaneer until March 1st…” Odd statement to throw in there.

IN BREAKING NEWS.....
Meyer follows Billy Gillispies lead, turns pro, and then 5 minutes later goes RUNNING back to the college ranks.

lol
I don’t care where the Glazers go, so long as they actually put thought into it… If they keep Raheem and even promote him, hopefully they can bring in a nice offensive minded coach to help him out and the fan base

Thats a key to this
A lot of the guys mentioned are Defensive guys. We need an offensive mind to support Morris.
