Myron Rolle Heading to Oxford
In the good for him category, Myron Rolle has chosen Oxford over the NFL. I know this isn't Bucs' news, but it's rare you have a story like this (and we have a number of FSU fans that frequent and contribute to the site).

Good for him.
His chances of succeeding a surgeon are far better than they are of succeeding in the NFL.

As are his chances of making the world a better place. Even if it is just a tiny little piece.

He would have
wound up as a perpetual special team, practice squad player.

nailed it
most over hyped player in FSU history i would say… glad he was a performer in the class room, but he never once showed me anything on the field…. as rash as that sounds

Wow! Pretty suprised you said that! I think he's pretty damn good as does the rest of the nation...He would have been a 1st or 2nd round pick in the draft.
Next to Nicholson and Verdell, Rolle had 3rd most tackles on the team last year. He will enter the 2010 draft and I’m sure he won’t miss a beat. Surely his draft status won’t drop that much. I’d be happy if he were in pewter and red!

I have to respectfully disagree...
…Rolle has been told by the advisory board that he would have been picked in the top 49 picks most likely, which is obviously nothing to shake a stick at. He has all the tools and technique of a prototypical safety and has the potential to be a special player. The problem is (and what Jerry was probably getting at) is that he’s always had that potential. While Rolle has been fairly solid since his first day at FSU, he was never anything close to what he was hyped to be. There had been articles about him since he was in the 8th grade. And not just about his academic accomplishments, but about how he is going to be one of the best safeties to come along EVER. He got Chris Paul level hype from about 10th grade on. He was a player that again could be special in the NFL, but based on his college career, many FSU fans don’t see more than a solid pro player at best.

Trust me
He wasn’t a standout player. Maybe the 3rd leading tackler, but had minimal interceptions in his time there, a few batted balls and couldn’t hold onto them, consistently took bad angles on tackles, and if asked to cover he would poop himself.

yeah i don't care what anybody says
Phillip Buchanon has shown more on the field in one season then Rolle did his entire time at FSU. He was good, i wouldnt even say solid. He’s practically Cato June of FSU’s defense. Does what he has to do, but doesnt bring anything extra to the table. Everette Brown was solid, Myron Rolle, not so much.
Chris Paul takes over games, Rolle never did and we played TWO Div-IAA clubs this season…
Nobody can convince me he had solid-to-stellar play. I watched every game and he always faded to the back… I remember Kyler Hall more than i remember Rolle’s performance on the field..
If he did anything in the NFL I would be shocked, as he didnt show an ability to hit, intercept, or disrupt routes.. nothing…

Well, when he checked into his draft status he was told he would probably be selected within the first 49 picks. That means he did something right...
However, I do agree that he was WAY overhyped. I mean, he was the #1 overall prep player when he was a senior in high school. So with that said, I agree that he should have been the second coming of Deion. So he didn’t come anywhere close, but was he that bad that he wouldn’t even pan out in the NFL? Apparantly I was to busy watching my Gators kick ass to see how bad he really was.

Gator fans look for every opportunity to be jackasses.
I have a lot of Gator friends, a lot and they are all really good folks, but the minute you start talking about football they become jerks.
WIth that being said, I think he has a CHANCE to pan out in the NFL. The guy has all of the athletic abilities, but he just isn’t a good ‘football’ player. He doesn’t have the instincts to play the game. He makes a lot of physical mistakes in coverage, takes bad angles for tackles. I don’t think people expected him to be Deion, but to at least be a productive part of our defense.

I'm just happy
to see good story coming out of FSU. It has been a long time since I heard anything but bad stories. Just saw Jim Rome, and don’t really know much about this guy. But definitely a guy that I’d like to know more about.
