Around SBN: Steve McNair Found Shot to Death

Brett Favre traded to the New York Jets

Being a Buccaneer fan, I was almost totally convinced that Brett Favre would be our quarterback this season. The way this panned out really looked like he was going to come to Tampa Bay.

That idea is finished. As of tonight, Brett Favre is now a New York Jet. The Packers recieve an undisclosed draft pick for Favre, who will now most definitely be the starter for the Jets.

This could perhaps be the end of Chad Pennington's career as a Jet. The scenario that seems to play out is Kellen Clemons sitting behind Favre for a year or two, grooming to be the starter.

JScott:

What a mess, you gotta wonder immediately how this impacts Jeff Garcia and every other Quarterback on the Roster not named Josh Johnson. This is clearly a case of Bruce Allen dragging his feet. I'm fine with the outcome, but if your putting your hat in the pool for BRETT FAVRE all the while stabbing each of your QB's in the same breath, you do everything you can to get Favre on your team. I also think Gruden might have lost his desire when he had 75 reporters in his face on an uneventful Training Camp morning... I don't think he was prepared or wanted to experience that onslaught day in and day out... Never the less it was an interesting and exciting couple days, but life goes on without Favre in Tampa...

I am so pissed that I can't even be pissed anymore....this seriously sucks.

Lemme guess, now Brice Allen signs Jeff Garica to a multi million dollar deal right? I can’t believe the Bucs let a surefire HOF like Favre go to the Jets. Like it or not, he was an upgrade to Garcia. What’s the point in Garcia knowing the offense when he’s just going to get hurt with his reckless abondon. It would have been a great story…Favre winning a SB for Tampa in Tampa? Could have written it any better. Oh well

I think you have to tip your cap to Allen in a way

The Packers were asking for a 3rd round draft pick that conditionally could become a 1st round, and a player from the Buccaneers for Favre. It is a smart move not to break the bank for a player that may not be around for more than two years. We weren’t a lock for the Super Bowl with Brett. While I am sort of disappointed I won’t see Favre in Tampa, I see why he is not. Let’s not forget, last year Garcia was everyone’s savior and he went to the Pro Bowl.

i dont think we would have broke the bank

This season would have been a lot like last season, in that Favre would have to have an entire season under his belt for us to truly reap his full potential. We sacrificed last season for Garcia, I would be willing to do the same for Favre who is leaps and bounds better than Garcia… We could go on for days, but like Brian Griese, I’m not willing to talk hypotheticals, i kid i kid
