Off Topic: Which Laptop would you purchase? I need opinions. HP? Dell? Gateway?

You know from time to time I ask your opinion on Consumer Purchases. Most recently I asked about a Next Gen Video Game system and which route I should go. The majority said to purchase an XBox 360 and in the end I chose the Sony Playstation 3 (I'm happy with that decision). Now I'm coming to you for laptop advice... I've narrowed my selection to three companies: HP, Dell, and Gateway... Should I include any other company or specific laptop in my decision making process?
At this point I'm looking at a Dell Studio (1535), an HP Pavilion (dv6985), and Gateway (T-6836) all of which got pretty good reviews from CNet News. Here's the general specs I would be going for: Processor: Intel® Core™ 2 Duo T8100 (2.1GHz/800Mhz FSB/3MB cache); Video Card: Intel Graphics Media Accelerator X3100; Memory: 3GB Shared Dual Channel DDR2; Hard Drive: 250GB SATA Hard Drive (5400RPM).
Basically I'm just curious as to whether anyone has had any experience or trouble with the companies above: Durability, Support Services, Functionality? The hope is once I purchase a Laptop, that in turn will allow me to blog more frequently. At any rate, if you guys have a great laptop this is your opportunity to let people know about it... Also, anybody have a Verizon Wireless Network Card and is willing to admit how much they pay monthly for the service? I'm just asking, geez...

Gateways are known to have pretty poor quality, but a cheaper price tag.
Dells are made with speciality (only-for-Dell) parts, so when you want to upgrade or if something goes out, you have to get it from Dell.
Everything I’ve had from HP has stood the test of time, but I’ve never bought one of their laptops.

my sister
actually bought one from Office Depot a few weeks ago, but all she tells me is that it’s good. I guess i should expect that as her selling point when purchasing was that it was white and had a nice keyboard; nevermind the actual specs inside the computer, ha!

I’d stay away from Gateway or Dell for the same reasons LinuxTX said. They both make good computers (obviously since they’ve both been around a while now), but I think there are better options.
I’ve had my Sony desktop for 4.5 years now and it’s been very good to me. My dad has a Sony laptop and loves it too. Both my fiance and I have HP laptops for work and I can’t complain about it either. Of course I also have a lot of friends getting MacBooks these days.

the wife
has a Mac (for work) and I can’t for the life of me get over that operating system. It seems more meticulous (having to drag the corner of a web page to make it expand)…
I’ve been using an HP Desktop for as long as i care to remember and its been great for the most part, in fact i have to sell it in order to get a more convenient laptop and it pains me…
For me its down to a Dell and Hp to be honest and at this point if the laptop were to malfunction I’d probably lose it for a while in either case…
I appreciate the insights fellas!!!
