Tampa Bay Buccaneers OG Davin Joseph breaks foot

This Pre-Season has been relatively successful and void of any horrendous news… Until now, the St. Pete Times is reporting Tampa Bay Buccaneers OG Davin Joseph broke his foot during Sunday’s Pre-Season game against the New England Patriots. The good news is Davin has already had successful surgery (Monday); the bad news is that he could miss four to eight weeks. This is pretty devastating news. There is no way he’s coming back for the Season Opener, its just not going to happen and if he does this injury will only linger all season long.

If there was one position along the o-line we couldn’t afford to lose, it was probably Joseph’s spot. I’m not about to knock on OT Jeremy Trueblood, but he struggled at times last season, add a lesser talent beside him in Rookie Jeremy Zuttah, Dan Buenning, or even Anthony Davis and Trueblood’s deficiencies start to wear through a bit more. This injury won’t make or break the season, but its adds to the unknown that has become the Buccaneers offense. At this point we can be thankful this didn’t occur to Jeff Garcia’s blindside, but even still look at the opening day o-line:

::: LT Donald Penn ::: LG Arron Sears ::: C Jeff Faine ::: RG Jeremy Zuttah/Dan Buenning ::: RT Jeremy Trueblood :::

That’s definitely not the starting o-line we envisioned to start the season, but maybe this will get guys even more experience and increase our teams depth along the line once Davin rejoins the line-up. . Never the less this isn’t what we wanted to hear…
