Could Brett Favre become a Buc? I say hell yeah!!!

Oh think of the possibilities....Brett Favre and the Bucs, the Bucs and Brett Farve. Could it possibly happen? With the fact that Jeff Garcia wants a healthy raise and Bruce Allen and company are not foolish enough to give it to him, there is a significant chance that Brett Favre could end up a Tampa Bay Buccaneer (sorry, I'm choking on my spit right now). I have always dreamed that one day we could have a QB of Favre's ability, but never in my wildest dream did I think we could actually have the man himself. Old or not, the guy is a legend who can still play the game.

I found this link on ESPN that actually breaks down every team's chance of landing Favre. See this link: http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/columns/story?columnist=williamson_bill&id=3474482. Hey, I say why not? I mean, we have a near 40 year old at the helm already so the only difference is that one is a Super Bowl winner and future Hall of Famer and the other is just a whine ass? Guys of the likes of Josh Johnson could learn a thing or two from the old man.Obviously there is no selling Jon Gruden. I'm sure he is watching this situation very carefully. I say to Bruce Allen: Take a chance because you never know when this train is going to stop again.

buc brett

well considering chucky and brett have worked well together in the past i thought of this .. but man people would be having a fit about us putting yet another qb on the roster even one like brett. and i love brett, always have, i have respect for the man. however i really think the thing this team has lacked on offense is a leader and now we have one in garcia who you refer to as a “whine ass” which is an opinion we will always argue about i’m sure. i’m torn on this one because of my respect for brett but i also have enormous respect for garcia even if i am in the minority on this blog.

While I agree

I agree as well that Garcia deserves his payday, even if it is a minority opinion, HOWEVER, its Brett FREAKIN Favre, I’d dump half the roster for a QB of his caliber, Garcia included.

from bay to bay

i absolutely agree that i would love to have brett, hell i used to dream of it when we first got gruden, well it’s still a dream but the latest rumors from the packer camp are if brett was to come back they would trade him ( i can’t believe that personally, even having favre on the field has to keep the seats full in green bay) and the trades they would look for is outside of the nfc ..

Bye Bye Garcia and Griese if Favre is our QB

I would be elated to go into training camp with Favre, McCown, and Johnson. As we all know, Simms will be traded or released before the season starts.

Stay away carpetbagging gunslingers!

Favre is not a better fit than Garcia. Garcia is a great game manager and with the steady play of our offensive line combined with a solid run game, we should be able to win 11 to 12 games with Garcia. With Favre, we will win 8 to 10 at most.

I do not want an old gunslinger who will take too many games into his own hands. While I realize that Favre had a great season last year, I am reluctant to think that he will duplicate that in Tampa. It takes time to get to know a new team and a new (though similar system). He makes too many mistakes. He will miss targets and force too many throws.

I don’t want the media circus and training camp distraction that is Brett Favre coming out of retirement. The best thing for our team is to stay focused and work on fundamentals. We have all the pieces ready to go to make another run for the NFC South division crown. All we need to do is keep a steady pace.

If things don’t go as planned, he could simply walk. And, if we do sign Favre, we can so good bye to Garcia. No way is he going to be a backup. Then what, Griese? McCown?

Maybe this also goes back to our NFC Central days, but I don’t want him in a Bucs jersey. I don’t want Brett Favre, the idol of all modern Packers’ fans, to lead my team. My memories of Favre are him being chased down by Sapp. Favre’s time is over and he needs to either accept his retirement or create havoc somewhere else.

i'm pretty much impartial

If Favre came aboard great, if not great…

Part of me would like to see that dick Garcia get that swift kick in the sack he deserves should Gruden-Allen bring in Favre

On the other hand, like many have mentioned, the time it would take Favre to get accustomed to Gruden’s system would be an insane setback, even for lord Favre, who has said in the past that he doesnt enjoy learning new tricks aka schemes, terminology, etc

i wouldnt mind the media circus, as it would at least be a positive circus (see Stevens), but i dont think this has a shot in the world… Although its Favre, we’re talking about Gruden’s system which is in-depth, to in-depth for Favre to truly succeed in Tampa.

In the end i hope Favre remains retired, as he has no reason to return and taint his legacy (like thats possible)....

Old Man Favre

Ok, lets say that somehow we do get Favre. How long can we expect him to play for? What would the contract negotiations be like? 1-2 years and a mulimillion signing bonus? I am just wondering whether he would be a realistic leader for the Bucs or just a one-season wonder.

Does it matter?

Of course Favre wouldn’t be around for more than a couple of seasons at best, but thats not the point. if I had a choice between two old men, Favre and Garcia, taking snaps for the Bucs, the answer should be a no-brainer. Neither is the future of the Bucs, nor are they expected to be at their age. Their days have come and are quickly coming to a close, but having an offense led by Favre even in the short term would be awesome, with McCown and JJ sitting bench and hopefully learning from a legend.

Alas, it will never happen, but its a nice thought.

That's the beauty of it!

If Favre actually did become a Buc it would obviously be for the short term. Let’s say we signed him to a 2 year incentive laden deal. Then we would get several things accomplished. We win a SB and Josh Johnson gets a chance to learn from one of the best QB of all time. Once Favre really retires then Johnson takes over.

In all honesty this probably won’t happen. I can’t see Favre in any other uniform then the Packers and if he does play, I can’t see Packers brass trading him within the conference. The Ravens have a legit shot though if he does come back.

3 things in the Bucs favor if Favre were to come back.

1. We got the cap space

2. Favre is somewhat familiar with Gruden’s complex scheme

3. The Bucs are a legit contender to win the NFC South and that’s where Favre wants to go – to a team that could win it all

Favre a Buc

Are you guys nuts?
A. Garcia is better than Favre.
B. Without a great suporting cast Favre is horrible.
C. Favre mastered the choke.

WOW! I can't believe you just said that! Here are 3 reasons your wrong.....

1. Your full of crap

2. Your full of crap

3. Your full of crap

Seriously though, the guy is a surefire HOF who has some hardware to back it up.

His stats are ranked as one of the top QB of all time. OK, so he wasn’t able to finish some games, however, Favre certainly is not “horrible without a great suppoting cast” nor is he “the master of choke”. There is a reason every news network is talking about him coming to Tampa. It’s because it IS a possibility. I will take Favre over Garcia any day.
