Official Favre Watch - Permission Slip Time
Jay Glazer of Fox Sports reports that Tampa is also allowed to talk to Favre. And so it officially begins. It looks like Green Bay is going to give us a chance. I still don't buy it, especially because we play them in the regular season and are a legit NFC contender, but this does start to warm my heart.
Let's see if this can get done by next week. The sooner the better.
Or we can always have Garcia start the season and then have Favre come in around week four or five. I'm sure that will be just peachy.

The Packers want a 1st round pick
I would be very disappointed if they were to give up a first round pick for a one year player.

Maybe worth it
I find it strange that first round draft picks are valued so highly in football, but in other sports (e.g. basketball) they are traded all the time. Yes, a first round pick could turn into a gem, but how often does that happen? For most positions according to an archived ESPN story, the bust rate of first round picks is over fifty percent. Can’t-miss prospects like Reggie Bush and Robert Gallery missed. So, why not give what in the worst case is likely to be a middle round first round pick for a proven QB at football’s most valuable position (with apologies to Noah Chestnut who believes that honor goes to the offensive line).
