My goodness, Bucs QB Jeff Garcia keeps going on and on and for what? Check out his latest statement courtesy of Sirius Satellite Radio:
"For me to go into this season and if it doesn't work itself out, if a contract is not presented as far as a renewal and a chance to finish my career here, then I will seriously think about . . . what my alternate options may be. It may come to not even playing football anymore. And I'd hate to even say that, but I feel like when you mistreat people there comes a time when it doesn't matter how much money you're going to be paid. If you're not being treated the right way it's going to lead to some drastic decisions and those decisions may just take me away from the game." - from "The Man" Stephen Holder of the Bucs Beat
Is this guy serious? No really, he can't be!! What kind of appreciation are you looking for if it "Doesn't matter how much money you're going to be paid" ... I'm starting to dislike this guy again. Reality check, although you made the Playoffs with a team that was 4-12 the previous season, you didnt play that great. Not to mention your 80 years old, you are lucky the Bucs were desperate enough to bring you in... Now you're talking about potentially retiring because you're not being appreciated? If I'm starting to dislike you, Jon Gruden must hate you.... Ugly Ugly Ugly... Who is this guy?

MAN AND I REALLY DID LIKE THIS GUY. WHY CANT ANYONE FULFILL THIER CONTRACTS ANYMORE? HE DID SIGN A CONTRACT RIGHT JSCOTT? I`M AFRAID I HAVE TO GO WITH MANAGMENT ON THIS ONE. MAYBE GIVE HIM A LITTLE BUMP FOR HIS PLAY LAST YEAR BUT I HEAR HE`S TALKING LIKE 7 MILLION. MAN THE BUCS SURE DO NEED HIM, MAYBE GRIESE WASNT A BAD IDEA AFTER ALL. I`M CONFUSED CAUSE I LIKE ALL MY BUCS EVEN THE SCUMBAG STEVENS WHO NOW THAT I HEARD THE WHOLE STORY OF THE DRUGED UP GIRL HE RAPED I DONT REALLY LIKE HIM NOW. This has happened before. Older players who do have something left come off a decent season and suddenly think they deserve the world. Keenan McCardell. I always liked him. Thought of him as a hard worker and one of the pieces we needed to make the Super Bowl run happen. Then he got a big head and look what happened. Now it’s happening with Garcia, who for all accounts was a good guy. Suddenly he’s saying stuff like this.
He is our best option at QB right now, but I say cut the cord. I love the Bucs, but looking at it realistically, we weren’t going to bring home a Super Bowl trophy the next year or 2, so let’s start the future now. Give McCown a shot. See what Griese still has left. Whatever. But this Garcia thing has gone too far now. We aren’t winning a championship with him and he only has 2 years left at best anyway. Let’s see what the other guys can do.

ok maybe i’m confused (it’s entirely possible) he is asking for a longer contract than 1 year right? what the hell is he thinking? who would want more than a one year contract!! he wants a contract that would have him finish his career as a buc? oh my god! lets tar and feather him ! oh i’m sorry walk the plank i mean .. am i missing more to this story? all he wants is a longer contract ? and you don’t think he has earned it? garcia, galloway and graham were the high points of the offense last season .. garcia played with intensity, heart and fearlessness that earned my respect on the field. not to mention not turning the ball over ! everytime i saw garcia walk on that field i had confidence that he would do whatever it took to get yards, he may not always get the yards but he damn sure wasnt just gonna lay down and quit .. give him a 2-4 year contract sheesh ..

Are you out of your mind? While Garcia is the type of QB one wants on their team, NO ONE in their right mind is going to give a guy who fast approaching 40 a long term extension….especially for the amount that Garcia is wanting. The guy just signed a 2 year deal last year. He needs to man up and honor it. And if he doesn’t get what he wants he says he’s gonna retire? Jeff, please allow me to get the paperwork started. What an asshole. His situation is a little more unique than most considering he is WAY past his prime and because of the nature of the situation (trying to renegotiate a deal he made just last year). No doubt other guys on the team are looking at this situation and believe me, I would bet it’s not going over well amoungst most of the team. Now Graham on the other hand deserves a raise, but Steve Dumig on 620 AM said that he was offered a lucrative deal and turned it down so shame on him. Time will tell if the Bucs brass bend over and take one up the you know what over the Garcia deal, but if you ask me…..I hope the Bucs tell Garcia to honor his deal or show him the door.

see you are saying way past his prime? i certainly didn’t see that last year .. you need to point that out to me. cause i think i missed where he didnt out perform most of our expectations 2440 yards 13 tds only 4 ints and he ran in another td ” especially for the amount that Garcia is wanting.” i am guessing you are talking about the amount of money that he is wanting ?? which is why i had said ” i must be missing more to this story” because i havent heard that he was asking for anything more than an extension in years, at the same yearly salary .. and what they reported on nfl network is that he was saying that he would honor his contract and AFTER this season he would retire .. the same website “bucs beat” even states that he was talking about retiring after the 2008 season not before it …so your “man up and honor it” comment doesn’t make sense cause he already said he would fufill his contract.. how much money does he want per year in the extension that he is asking for cause i honestly don’t know! i liked what i saw from garcia last year .. and my god how long an extension could he possibly be asking for? i’m pretty sure jeff knows how old he is .. even if we got a young strong qb and garcia wasnt our starter i can’t think of anyone id be happier with as a back up

Joe Torre left the yankee because he was insulted by the offer the yankees offered…..
at one point in time I hated when people hold out, now i congratulate them, because everyone in every job should do the same…..
I held out on my job and i got a 5 dollar per hour raise. =P
