No. 2 Seed is it really crazy?

Schein Nine: Bucs getting it done on defense

by Adam Schein (http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/8879488/Schein-Nine:-Bucs-getting-it-done-on-defense)

Buc Ball

Don't tell anyone. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are 9-3.

They picked off Drew Brees — twice — in the final 2:30 of the game. First, underrated safety Jermaine Phillips picks off Brees, setting up Matt Bryant's game- winning field goal. Brees and the Saints got the ball back and this time are intercepted by Phil Buchanon.

The defensive line got pressure with the front four. Barrett Ruud continued his Pro Bowl season flying around. On a day when Jeff Garcia was a non-factor, this was classic Buc Ball.

Defensive tackle Chris Hovan couldn't stop raving about Ruud's play when we chatted on Monday. And Hovan stressed how Monte Kiffin's defense is the ultimate blend of young studs and classic veterans.

Hovan said he had chills talking about the Monday night affair coming up with the Panthers in Carolina. When the NFC South co-leaders met in Tampa, the Bucs defense shut down the DeAngelo Williams/Jonathan Stewart duo and picked off Jake Delhomme three times.

Tampa can win in Carolina. And if you examine the schedules down the stretch and factor in Arizona's no-show on Thanksgiving night, I'd call the Bucs the favorite for the No. 2 seed. How crazy is that!

our defense returned with more experience (see Ruud and Phillips stats), our offense despite the QB issues early was a bit more solidified with additions such as Bryant, Faine, Dunn (all of which have had more of an impact than many thought).

Not crazy at all

The NFC South Champ WILL be the #2 seed in the NFC, whether its the Bucs, Panthers or even Falcons.

there could be two wild card

It looks like the South could be the division that can get three teams in the playoffs. The NFC south is the most underrated division since they changed formats, five seasons with a team in the NFC champioship game before last year.

NFC South Best Division in NFL

Who said the NFC East is the best Division in the NFL is not paying attention. As of right now the two teams that are holding the wild card spots are teams that come from the South. Carolina and the Falcons. Yes the Falcons.

Tampa Bay is having there best year since 2002(the year they won the Super Bowl) They are doing it with consistent defense lead by our cornerbacks down to our DT’s..

Keys to the game:

Establish the pass game early..
Stop the running game and Steve Smith.
We do those things we go on and win the game.

Pretty f******* crazy. The number ONE seed will be from the South. So you Bucaneers can load up and bring it again up to Charlotte for the final showdown IF you make it.

Hill earned the starting job for the 2009 season by beating out Alex Smith, who missed last season after re-injuring his surgically repaired throwing shoulder. Head coach Mike Singletary largely chose Hill based on his play down the stretch last year: he went 5-3 over the final eight games and he also owns a 5-0 record at home in Candlestick Park.
