Tampa Bay Buccaneers 2009 Scheduled Opponents

Continuing the theme of moving past the aggravating 2008 football season, here's a look at the Buccaneers 2009 Season Opponents:

Home Games: Atlanta Falcons, Carolina Panthers, New Orleans Saints, New England Patriots (in London), Dallas Cowboys, New York Giants, Green Bay Packers, and New York Jets.

Away Games: Atlanta Falcons, Carolina Panthers, New Orleans Saints, Philadelphia Eagles, Washington Redskins, Seattle Seahawks, Miami Dolphins, and the Buffalo Bills (In Toronto potentially).

Obviously we don't have the dates so the schedule is incomplete, but as it is I hope this will be the last season we play the Seahawks and Redskins. I hate both franchises. The Seahawks because they play this team so damn tough and the Redskins because they gather up free agent after free agent and continue to suck. They're like the Yankees without the Championships. I'm excited about the Miami Dolphins match-up. The wife is a Dolphins fan and so we will be making the drive for that game. Hopefully the Bucs are respectable next season (aka not starting McCown).

I'd get into the pluses and minuses of our opponents, but at this point who knows what the off-season may provide this team and its opponents for that matter. Are there any match ups you are particularly interested in seeing?

Similar to college...

…I always felt the NFL should create geographical rivalries that should always be a part of your schedule regardless of the current way they decide. Similar to the annual UF/FSU game. So for example, I’ve always thought the Bucs and Dolphins should play every year. So should the Giants and Jets. And the Eagles and Steelers. Take one game per year out of the standard scheduling formula and let’s develop some cross-conference rivalries. Get the states pumped up.

that would be awesome

i have some brothers/uncle-in-laws who are ridiculous Dolphins Fans and i’d love nothing more than for the Bucs to kick them in the nuts on an annual basis.

I'll probably go to the Dolphin game, too

I wish there were more intrastate matchups each year like TBG mentioned. It’d kind of be like in the SEC, where each East team has one permanent annual West opponent and the remaining West opponents rotate. Such a system would create some natural rivalries.

Cannons... fire them.

Depending on the weekend, I'll most likely go,

so sounds like a plan. If the game is Tenn-Fla weekend, well, I’ve been through enough brutal beatdowns at Florida Field, so I think I’ll let the Vols take another one there without witnessing it in person. I’ve been to 2 straight at the Swamp, so I think I can miss one.

Seems brutal

I dont see a lot of light in this schedule. Who are supposed to be the easy match ups for us? I predict a 9-7 at best record and Gruden gets pulled after next season. Our home record won’t be dominating thats for sure.

at this point

(9-7) sounds like a dream season. All of those teams will be better next season as we continue to digress. No matter what, whoever becomes our signal caller will immediately set us back a year….

Anything can happen though and thats why we watch the games, despite the obvious outcomes
