Depressing News Nuggets: Philly won big, NFC South Champion, Super Bowl XLIII

Had the Bucs actually beat the Oakland Raiders today at home, rather than losing their fourth game in a row and second in a row at home... They would have secured a Wildcard Playoff spot, as the Philadelphia Eagles defeated the Dallas Cowboys 44-6.

The Carolina Panthers have won the NFC South and have secured a bye for the first round of the Playoffs. Congrats Jaxon...

Last seasons NFC South cellar dweller in the Atlanta Falcons have secured a Wildcard spot in next weeks NFL Playoffs. Congrats Dave...

Despite the Bucs not making the Playoffs, the NFL's Super Bowl XLIII will still be held in Tampa's Raymond James Stadium... eh

Hey, at least the '76 Buccaneers are no longer the sole franchise who completed an entire season winless. The Detroit Lions lost their final game of the season to the Green Bay Packers today. Now the Bucs can share the honor with another Franchise.

as an eagles fan

From my perspective of the bucs the Gm has done a terrible job of getting talent. the defense was awesome, but got old, and not really replaced. Let’s be honest, chucky inherited dungy’s team. Fire both

E-A-G-L-E-S EAGLES!!!

And replace Gruden with who? Bill Cowher is my choice, but his 3-4 defensive scheme doesn't work here.

Screw that, keep Gruden. Don’t put the monumental collapse the defense made on Gruden. Firing Bruce Allen sounds like a good scape goat. If we do fire both, I say hire Mike Holmgren (this is his last year in Seattle) or Bill Parcells (he may opt out of his contract) even though he screwed us over once before. Then promote Raheem Morris to head coach and bring back one of the number of soon to be available coaches in as defensive coordinator. Rod Marinelli will do, or Herm Edwards, Marv Lewis, Jack Del Rio, Lovie Smith (a long shot but he’ll keep his job) Dick Jauron, or even Romeo Crennell (runs a 3-4 but he’ll be out there too).

I agree about gruden

I don’t think gruden needs to be fired at all. Don’t put this on him. His offense has been scoring for their talent level. It is completely the defense that threw away our opportunity and we all know who calls shots on that side. This really was on Kiffin.. Sad to say, but is true

Kiffin and whoever plays on the right side of our defensive line.

Now I do like the idea of bringing in Holmgren for the GM role. I think a repairing of Holmgren and Gruden on the same time would be a really great thing.. but I think egos would definitely get in the way.

People are going to be screaming “fire gruden” and I’m not a Gruden lover, but that is just plain stupid. You can’t pin this on him. If anything, he is the reason we stayed competitive in every one of our losses.

I like the sound of a Holmgren & Gruden reunion myself. I think though with all the public (and maybe private) scrutiny, that if Bruce Allen goes so does Gruden.

Bruce Allen may or may not be the culprit here, but he certainly would be the scapegoat. Someone has to pay for such a horrible end to a promising season. The Glazers are holding the pocketbook here and if they are telling Allen not to spend it’s not his fault. I think we left like 20+ million on the table during the last off season as far as signing Free Agents.

If that crap happens again, Buc Fans will be calling for the Glazers balls in a basket. One wonders if they are operating on the budget that they have been because of all the money they have been losing as owners of Manchester United. They say that the two are seperate enities, but I don’t believe that crap.

Lastly, if the Leperchan leading the charge is as sick as they say he is (Malcom Glazer), then I say sell the freaking team and put someone in charge who actually acts like they give a shit. I still don’t get how the Glazers act all secretive like the CIA. Get involved or get out.
